Verification and Validation (V&V) Officer
We are seeking a Verification & Validation (V&V) Engineer to support the delivery of a critical Defence acquisition capability.
Working within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, you will play a key role in assuring that complex systems are designed, integrated, tested and accepted in accordance with Defence requirements.
This position is focused on the verification, validation, integration and Test & Evaluation (T&E) of complex maritime and/or land systems throughout the capability lifecycle. You will work closely with Defence stakeholders, engineers, project teams and industry partners to ensure system requirements are appropriately verified, validated and demonstrated through a structured and evidence-based approach.
You will bring practical experience from Defence acquisition, systems engineering, integration or Test & Evaluation environments involving complex physical platforms and mission systems. This role is best suited to engineers with maritime, land or broader Defence materiel systems experience rather than ICT, enterprise software, or business system testing backgrounds.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain and coordinate Verification & Validation Plans (VVPs) aligned to program objectives, engineering activities, and delivery schedules.
- Define verification strategies and methodologies using inspection, analysis, demonstration and test techniques.
- Support the planning, coordination and execution of Test & Evaluation activities; including development of test concepts, procedures, schedules and acceptance criteria.
- Participate in integration, qualification, acceptance and operational testing activities, including platform trials and capability demonstrations where required.
- Maintain requirements traceability to ensure system requirements are allocated, verified, validated and formally closed.
- Analyse test outcomes and verification evidence to identify deficiencies, non-conformances, risks, and corrective
- Prepare verification reports, validation evidence, compliance records and engineering assurance artefacts to support governance and capability acceptance.
- Contribute to engineering and program reviews, including System Requirements Reviews (SRR), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Reviews (CDR) and Test Readiness Reviews (TRR).
- Collaborate with engineering, integration, project and Defence stakeholder groups to ensure systems are ready for verification, validation and acceptance activities.
- Ensure all V&V and T&E activities are conducted in accordance with Defence policies, engineering standards and program requirements.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will possess:
- Degree qualification in Engineering, Systems Engineering, Science or a related technical discipline.
- Experience supporting Defence acquisition programs.
- Experience supporting Verification & Validation, Systems Engineering, Integration, Test & Evaluation or Engineering Assurance activities within Defence environments.
- Knowledge of systems engineering principles and the application of verification and validation throughout the system lifecycle.
- Experience developing and maintaining verification plans, requirements traceability, verification matrices, test procedures and assurance documentation.
- Experience supporting integration, qualification, acceptance, operational testing, or platform trial activities.
- Familiarity with Defence engineering governance, capability acceptance, and Test & Evaluation frameworks.
- Experience supporting the integration, verification, or testing of platform, mission, communications, sensor, mechanical, electrical, combat or integrated systems.
