Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the U.S. government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Warehouse Specialist / Forklift Operator to support a unique U.S. Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia. The Warehouse Specialist / Forklift Operator will be responsible for managing inventory, ensuring efficient warehouse operations, and operating forklifts and other equipment to handle materials in compliance with safety and performance standards.
Job Responsibilities:
- Receive, inspect, and accurately record incoming shipments, ensuring proper documentation and identification of items.
- Maintain organized storage and proper inventory levels of items in the warehouse according to predetermined standards.
- Safely operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material-handling equipment to move and store products, supplies, and materials.
- Pick, pack, and prepare materials for outgoing shipments, ensuring items are properly packaged and meet shipping requirements.
- Load and unload delivery trucks, ensuring accuracy in the receipt and dispatch of goods.
- Perform cycle counts and physical inventory checks to ensure the accuracy of warehouse stock and reconcile discrepancies.
- Monitor and maintain warehouse cleanliness, safety, and working order of all equipment in compliance with safety protocols and applicable regulations.
- Coordinate with other departments or vendors to ensure materials are delivered and stored properly and efficiently within the warehouse.
- Assist in maintaining inventory records, tracking stock levels, and producing reports for inventory management and auditing.
- Adhere to safety guidelines, including personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, forklift certifications, and relevant training for the handling of hazardous materials (HAZMAT), if applicable.
- Maintain accurate logs of warehouse operations, documenting all incoming and outgoing materials.
- Conduct regular preventive maintenance checks and inspections on forklifts and other equipment, reporting any malfunctions or required repairs immediately.
- Participate in inventory control activities, including arranging items for optimal accessibility and performing stock rotation to ensure the integrity of perishable goods.
- Ensure compliance with relevant local, federal, and military regulations and policies governing warehouse and equipment operations.
Minimum Requirements:

Experience:
- At least 2-3 years of experience working in a warehouse environment or in a role requiring material handling operations.
- At least 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts, including certification or licensing to operate powered industrial trucks (e.g., sit-down or stand-up forklifts).
- Knowledge and experience with safety procedures for warehouse operations and material handling equipment.

Education:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Basic understanding of inventory management and warehouse operations; additional logistics or warehouse certifications are a plus.

Skills and Technical Knowledge:
- Proficiency in following warehouse procedures, reading and interpreting shipping documents, and maintaining accurate records.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including safe load-handling, equipment operation, and storage techniques.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple tasks effectively and meet deadlines.
- Proficient computer skills with experience working with inventory systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.).

Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work in a physically demanding role, including lifting heavy objects, operating machinery, and working in various temperature settings.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment while ensuring safety.
- Must possess and maintain a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year or more at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and adhere to deployment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid driver’s license with experience driving fleet vehicles or trucks.
- Familiarity with military or government warehouse operations and logistics standards, including proper handling and preparation of sensitive or hazardous materials (HAZMAT).
- Knowledge of U.S. military supply chain processes and systems such as the Defense Logistics Management Standards (DLMS).
- Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) or other inventory control systems.
- Ability to manage multiple demands while maintaining flexibility to adapt to rapidly changing priorities and operational needs.
- Demonstrated success maintaining organized warehouse spaces and promoting efficient workflows in high-paced operational environments.
