The Lead Aircraft Mechanic III is responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Responsible for support of highly sensitive HQ USAF operational plans and safe air.
- transportation for Cabinet Members, senior military leaders, and visiting foreign dignitaries.
- Performs/will appoint others to complete scheduled and unscheduled aircraft maintenance to include repair and/or modify aircraft structures, structural components, and engines of complex to extreme difficulty.
- Performs/will appoint others to maintain and repair aircraft components including but not limited to flight controls, engines, landing gear, hydraulics, pneumatics, fuel systems, and mechanical components.
- Performs/will train others how to apply technical knowledge of airframe and power plant systems to determine equipment malfunctions and will apply technical expertise and guidance to solve complex problems by interpreting technical data such as wiring diagrams, schematics and original equipment manufacturers (OEM) manuals.
- Work requires a thorough comprehensive knowledge of aircraft mechanical component, troubleshooting/repair procedures, and replacement of component operations.
- Will have the ability to determine functionality of complex electrical systems.
- Will complete or direct others to complete inspections to include, but not limited to, preflight, thru-flight, basic post-flight, and isochronal inspections.
- Launches and recovers aircraft as required.
- Will take instruction from production supervisor/shift supervisor/Branch Manager(s).
- Will coordinate corrosion control I.A.W. MDS specific wash requirements.
- Will oversee debrief process to completion including entries into MIS.
- Performs/will appoint others to perform operational checks of all aircraft systems.
- Will ensure aircraft appearance and cleanliness standards are met.
- Will train others to operate all + associated ground support equipment.
- Will ensure members are trained to properly use hand tools, special tools, and fixtures applicable to aircraft.
- Performs/will train others to complete all tasks associated with ground movement of aircraft.
- Will annotate and train others how to annotate maintenance actions in aircraft records/forms and complete associated MIS entries.
- Will practice and train others how to practice good housekeeping, tool control, FOD awareness and prevention, and safety at all times.
- Will perform other duties related to the occupational field as assigned to include TDY and travel.
- Must be able to work, dayshift, second shift, third shift, and/or weekend shifts as required.
- Will ensure the parts turn-in process is completed by the end of his/her shift.
- Will be proficient to perform maintenance in three classifications (aircraft general, jet engines, and pneudraulics through Cross Utilization Training (CUT).
- Will be the most qualified mechanic on shift regarding all aircraft maintenance activities.
- Will be Engine Run qualified on their respected airframes.
Minimum Requirements:
- A minimum of a High School or GED Required.
- Knowledge of the use of aircraft hand tools, special tools, and test equipment is required.
- Must have a strong working knowledge of aircraft safety requirements and know how to operate portable firefighting equipment.
- Be able to read, interpret, and comprehend schematic diagrams, drawings, charts, and technical publications are required.
- Must possess an FAA A&P license.
- Occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 50 pounds is required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a flightline driver’s license.
- Member will be engine run /blade blending qualified / borescope qualified and maintain said qualifications throughout tenure as a lead.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a government secret security clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
Preferred Requirements:
- A minimum of three years’ working knowledge of aircraft maintenance operations is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits:
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $59.23
