The Aircraft Mechanic AM-I Sheetmetal/Structures Mechanic (UH-60, AH-64, CH-47) Repairs and replaces aircraft structural components to include stingers, longerons, bulkheads, beams and aircraft skin according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.

  • Three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience, with Two (2) years of Rotary wing aircraft mechanic experience, And Two (2) years on the assigned UH-60, AH-64, CH-47 aircraft is Required.

  • US Citizenship is Required, and the ability to obtain a Valid US Passport, required for base/facility access and potential OCONUS travel.

  • Repairs, fabricates, modifies and installs structural parts, forming blocks, and shapes metal using stretching, shrinking, and other metal forming techniques. Balances rotary-wing aircraft blades.

  • Thorough knowledge of aircraft sheet metal/structural modifications and repair is Required.

  • Mixes and applies fiberglass materials, mixes and applies primers and paints to aircraft surfaces, and applies corrosion control treatment to aircraft metals. 

  • Makes emergency and permanent repairs to transparent plastic windows and enclosures. 

  • Uses common measuring tools, precision measuring gages, and alignment fixtures to perform structural repairs.

  • Performs checks; carry out inspections and removal of components. Performs final checks on assembly and installation of parts that were replaced.

  • Must possess working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information Systems, and comprehend technical manuals, blueprints, and engineering drawings, to prepare forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.

  • Requisitions bench stock for repair of aircraft structures, removes and disassemble defective parts of the aircraft.

  • Prepares request for turn ins and repair parts and structural components.

  • Assists aircraft technicians and mechanics on various tasks, Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.

  • Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by Sheetmetal/Structural Mechanic.

  • Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, sheet metal brakes and sheers and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).

  • Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).

  • Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.

Minimum Requirements for Hire:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent is Required.

  • U.S. Military technical school or specialized training course is desired; Certificate of education level is required.

  • A valid (FAA) A&P Certificate is preferred but not required.

  • Three (3) years of aviation maintenance experience, with Two (2) years of Rotary wing aircraft mechanic experience, And Two (2) years on the assigned UH-60, AH-64, CH-47 Mission Design Series (MDS) is Required.  

  • All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.

  • A valid Driver’s License is required.

  • Mechanics must provide their own tools and toolbox. Toolbox must be shadowed and each tool etched with mechanic PID. (Recruiter will provide toolbox requirements upon hiring approval).

  • Must be willing and able to work Any shift assigned under the Union CBA; Day shift, swing shift, night shift, and weekends (if applicable) in support of mission requirements.

  • Must be able to obtain a Valid US Passport and be willing and able to travel internationally if required to support mission requirements (applicable to OCONUS work sites).

Security Clearance Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Security Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.

 Physical and Additional Requirements / Work Environment:

  • May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.

  • Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.

  • Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands, and be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.

  • Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.

  • Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.

  • Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects to meet deadlines.

  • May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.

  • May work in maintenance shop or outside, must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.

  • May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment, and to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.

  • May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.
