Amentum Environment & Security – Engineering & Design is seeking a Architectural Designer IV to be based in Englewood, CO. The Architectural Designer is responsible for for initiating and developing engineering drawings through completion for assigned projects in conformance with the requirements, applicable codes, and design criteria established by the project's discipline engineers. Works closely with the Supervising Architect (SDE) regarding project scope, schedule, budget, and design requirements.
Esential Responsibilities:
1.Under minimal supervision, may develop complex engineering drawings.
2.Applies a solid level of understanding within a specific discipline.
3.Understands codes, permits, and software applications related to the discipline.
4.Fully understands the process of preparing designs and drawings using project specifications and discipline-associated written and verbal instructions in accordance with established design practices, standards, and procedures.
5.Basic understanding of engineer's process of performing and verifying design calculations to support the overall project design.
6.Fully understands the purpose and use of vendor documents and reviews discipline supplier documents for accuracy. Can also review other discipline's supplier documents.
7.Fully understands the use of requisitions and the role of materials management, and can review/advise on purchase orders and subcontracts.
8.Collects data on manpower, man-hour, and labor costs requirements for design staff to aid in evaluating the budget.
9.Intermediate knowledge of cost estimating methods and performs material take-offs for the discipline.
10.Intermediate knowledge of discipline's materials costs and concept of cost analysis and forecasting.
11.Basic knowledge of the project change control process and can identify a potential change.
12.Fully understands the discipline's equipment and material lists.
13.May provide technical guidance to less experienced design staff.
14.Coordinates work with that of others in discipline group and other discipline groups on the project.
15.Prepares complete information for design details, bill of materials, etc., that can be distributed to other design or draft personnel for completion.
16.Advises the Design Supervisor, Lead Designer or Supervising Architect about status of assignment(s) with respect to schedule, budgets, delays and adverse problems.
17.Provides technical guidance and assistance to other design and draft personnel and is responsible for neatness and accuracy of work.
18.Ensures quality, quantity and completeness of the assigned design tasks.
19.Keeps proper files and records related to assigned design activities.
20.Continually upgrades technical knowledge and capabilities and pursues additional coursework and training.
21.Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Requirements
US Citizen
- Bachelor of science or arts degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university or demonstrated equivalent education.
- 8+ years experience.
- Capability with 2D and/or 3D plant design.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.
- Organizational skills and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.
- Position may require the ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
- Position may require travel.
- Government nuclear related and/or heavy industrial design experience.
- In depth knowledge of design development, drawing preparation, and checking procedures.
- In depth knowledge of general 3D plant design modeling software.
- In depth knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD or other general plant modeling/drafting CAD software platform.
- Working knowledge of building code requirements and information required on design drawings.
- Basic knowledge of the project change control process.
Preferred Qualifications
Masters Degree in Architecture from an accredited college or university
- Ability to obtain Architect's license.
- Government or nuclear experience, i.e., DOD, DOE, NR.
Compensation & Benefits:
HIRING SALARY RANGE: $116K - $123K Annually (Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
