Role Title: Senior Mechanical Engineer
Primary Responsibilities: Defence's Maritime Sustainment Division's Amphibious Department requires a suitably qualified and experienced Engineering Officer to provide engineering support to design acceptance and introduction into service of current and new equipment / fleets of equipment, including development and publishing of related technical publications for Army Marine. Required to have ITAR TPR Approvals to work on / access information on the Special Forces Air Drop Rigid Hull Inflatable Boats (MKI in-service version, and MKII Technical refresh version - two separate FMS cases) and be located in Cairns, Darwin, or Perth.
The Engineering officer will provide engineering support to design acceptance and introduction into service of current and new equipment / fleets of equipment, including development and publishing of related technical publications for Army Marine, along with Engineering Change (EC) and Report on Defective and Unsatisfactory Materiel (RODUM) investigations and solutions.
The key responsibilities of the role include, but not limited to:
• Conduct review/approval of plans, designs, RODUMs and reports within allocated levels of technical authority
• Provide design approval/acceptance functions within allocated levels of technical authority
• Provide engineering support including SQEP reviews and technical advice.
• Work with Army Marine lead Technical Analysts to develop Technical Risk Assessments for significant Engineering Changes that do not have Design Acceptance (DAcc) within the Army Marine workflow; and to progress existing ECs through the Configuration Management
• Process workflow to achieve DAcc.
• Complete and assist technical analysts with technical investigations for sustainment and project requirements
• Liaise with Military Units, organisations and personnel at all levels of management
• Develop and maintain close working relationships with all relevant stakeholders.
Essential Requirements:
• Degree qualification (Mechanical, Electrical Systems or Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline).
• Australian Citizenship.
• Hold or ability to obtain NV1 security clearance.
• Experience in a Department of Defence, preferably in Maritime Domain.
• Highly developed organisational and analytical skills.
• Demonstrated ability to develop positive working relationships through high level communication skills.
Desirable Requirements:
• Previous exposure to Australian Defence Force (ADF) Capability Acquisition and Sustainment Group and/or Marine Engineering Industry.
Salary Range Depending on Experience: $180 to $200K Package
Required Security Clearance Level: NV1
Location: Cairns, Darwin, or Perth
Weekly Hours: 40
