Amentum is seeking a Baker/Cook I located in the Williamsburg area of Virginia. This specific Cook I position would have experience and a full knowledge of the baking trade and is responsible for producing baked goods and desserts.  When not baking, the Cook I prepares in large quantities, by various methods of cooking, meat, poultry, fish, vegetables, seasons and cooks all cuts of various meats, fish and poultry, boils, steams or fries vegetables, makes gravies, soups, sauces, roasts, meat pies, fricassees, casseroles, and stews.  

Job Requirements:

  • Applies full knowledge of baking trade and is responsible for producing standard baked goods such as bread, rolls, cakes, cookies, biscuits, muffins, and various types of puddings, and ice cream or sherbets.
  • Follow recipes and properly and efficiently prepare and present all food items to be served, including accommodating special guests' requests.
  • Prepares all food items as directed.
  • Maintain clean and organized pantry and coolers
  • Communicate the need for goods to be ordered to kitchen leadership.
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of menu items.
  • Maintain a neat and organized work area to include adhering to sanitation standards according to state law and health codes.
  • Maintain neat, clean, and professional appearance according to company standards
  • Comply with all company safety and security policies and procedures. Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions
  • Attend all training and meetings as required.
  • Perform other tasks, including cross-training as directed.
  • All other duties as assigned, planned or un-planned

Minimum Requirements:

  • Have extensive experience baking, preparing, and presenting sweets, desserts, breads and other bakery items.
  • High school degree or equivalent
  • 2+ years' experience as a Cook/Baker in the restaurant industry
  • Able to read and follow standardized recipes
  • Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
  • Able to work as part of a team in a busy kitchen atmosphere
  • ServeSafe Certification preferred
  • Able to work early mornings, nights, and weekends
  • Able to bend, move, and lift up to 25 pounds or more
  • Physically able to stand, move, bend, kneel, and able to lift 25 lbs. or more throughout shift.
  • Must have valid government issued clearance at the time of application
