Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Base Communications Officer (BCO) Site Manager to support a government contract based on the island of Diego Garcia.

PURPOSE / SCOPE

The BCO Site Manager is responsible for overall supervision and performance of Base Communications Office operations, including, but not limited to Base Telecommunications Distribution System, including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephone switch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling, outside plant fiber optic / copper cables, and other equipment in support of the telephone switching system, as well as all other systems supported by Base Communications infrastructures.  BCO Site Manager will perform duties to ensure compliance with Performance Work Statement (PWS) and Amentum ISO 9001 Quality Management System (QMS).

The BCO Site Manager will be available within 30 minutes to meet with Government personnel and / or Program leadership as required 24 hours/day, 7 days/week in this role.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in an associated discipline preferred; two (2) years of experience in related field may be substituted for each year of the four (4) years of college
  • At least ten (10) years of experience in Base Communications Office operations on a government contract or at a military installation.
  • Will be BICSI Registered Technician Level certified or higher
  • Three years’ experience in a supervisory role in an austere OCONUS environment with a multi-national workforce
  • Must be experienced in all aspects of operating and maintaining the Base Telecommunications Distribution System, including switch operations, switchboard operations, inside plant telephone switch maintenance, inside plant station equipment, customer premise cabling, outside plant fiber optic / copper cables, and other equipment in support of the telephone switching system.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in Microsoft Office products
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US passport and driver's license throughout employment in this role
  • Ability to successfully pass PACOM medical requirements and maintain requirements for duration of deployment
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance

WORK ENVIRONMENT, PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Able to stand for long periods of time such as eight (8) to ten (10) hours, bend, kneel, and reach to store/retrieve supplies
  • Able to lift, carry, and push supplies and boxes up to 50 pounds
  • Living and working conditions at the assignment location could be remote and uncomfortable
  • Long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions
  • May also work in a typical office environment
