Amentum, a global leader in advanced engineering, technical, and professional services serving the US government, allies, and critical infrastructure sectors, is seeking a Beverage Server to support a unique US Navy program based on the island of Diego Garcia. The Beverage Server will provide customer service and professional bartending, adhering to food and beverage handling regulations and serving guidelines to ensure a quality experience for patrons.
Job Responsibilities:
- Serve a variety of beverages, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, in a timely, courteous, and professional manner to patrons.
- Utilize knowledge of mixology to prepare common and specialty drinks based on patrons’ preferences and bartender guides.
- Follow established recipes and procedures to meet quality standards in beverage preparation.
- Ensure all beverages are served in accordance with local laws and military regulations, including CNICINST 1710.3 and ServSafe Alcohol Server Intervention guidelines.
- Check identification to verify customers meet the minimum legal drinking age requirements (21 years of age or older).
- Provide food and beverage service in compliance with food sanitation and handling practices as required by NAVMED P-5010-1 and CNICINST 1710.3.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization at the bar and beverage service areas, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards.
- Perform opening and closing duties, including setting up the bar, restocking inventory, and securing the work area after service hours.
- Manage point-of-sale transactions accurately, handle cash and report any discrepancies in a timely manner.
- Monitor and manage alcoholic beverage consumption and intervene when necessary in alignment with guidelines for responsible alcohol service.
- Provide excellent customer service and create a welcoming and enjoyable environment for all patrons.
- Attend and complete required training such as the ServSafe Alcohol Server Intervention Training course and annual food sanitation training sessions.
Minimum Requirements:
- At least six (6) months of bartender service experience, including preparing and serving popular alcoholic beverages and using bartender guides for more complex drink recipes.
- Alcohol servers must be at least 21 years of age.
- Knowledge of proper food and beverage handling and sanitation practices.
- Must have the ability to attend and complete the required food sanitation and ServSafe Alcohol Server Intervention Training within 30 days of employment and attend annual recertification training.
- Excellent customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills to interact with diverse patrons and ensure a positive guest experience.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, based on operational requirements.
- Strong ability to follow established operational procedures and compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and basic cash handling.
- Must be in possession of a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
- Passport must be valid for a minimum of one (1) year at the time of hiring.
- Ability to successfully pass contract medical requirements and maintain compliance for the duration of deployment.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in an austere OCONUS (Outside the Continental United States) environment with a multi-national workforce is preferred.
- Valid country driver’s license and passport.
- Country visa (as required in line with the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide).
- Previous experience bartending in a military or government club or facility.
- Advanced mixology or bartending certifications.
- Familiarity with NAVMED P-5010-1 guidelines for food sanitation and CNICINST 1710.3 regulations.
- Knowledge of inventory management and stocktaking for beverages and bar stock.
- Demonstrated ability to handle high-volume beverage service operations with efficiency and professionalism.
