Description of Duties:
Seeking a Chief Technical Architect to lead the strategic design and implementation of enterprise IT architecture that support national defense missions. This role requires visionary Chief Architect to shape the technological foundation of a next-generation network infrastructure and digital services. This executive role will drive the strategic evolution of the IT network architectures to support digital advancements, cloud-native solutions, and customer-centric platforms. The Chief Architect will lead a team of architects to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure systems that position the organization at the forefront of the telecom industry.
Key Responsibilities:
• Developing and maintaining enterprise architecture frameworks to support mission-critical systems, including command and control, cybersecurity, and cloud-based platforms.
• Designing and implementing an enterprise architecture framework that supports scalable cloud-native solutions, AI-driven platforms, and microservices architectures.
• Collaborating with senior DoD leadership, military stakeholders, and inter-agency partners to align IT architectures with national security objectives.
• Evaluating and integrating emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, zero-trust architecture, quantum-resistant cryptography) to maintain technological superiority.
• Establishing governance frameworks to ensure compliance with federal regulations (e.g., NIST 800-53, FISMA) and DoD cybersecurity standards.
• Developing and maintaining the enterprise architecture framework, including technology roadmaps, standards, and governance processes to guide IT investments and initiatives.
• Overseeing the evaluation, selection, and integration of emerging technologies, ensuring they align with industry trends and best practices.
• Leading architecture reviews, audits, and optimization efforts to maintain a resilient and future-proof IT infrastructure.
• Leading ITSM initiatives (ITIL-based) to optimize service delivery, including incident management, change management, and service continuity for high-availability systems.
• Communicating complex architectural strategies to non-technical stakeholders, including senior military officials, interagency partners, and external contractors.
• Supervising and mentoring a team of architects and engineers, fostering innovation and ensuring alignment with DoD’s mission-driven culture.
The successful candidate will:

• Have strategic vision to align IT architectures with DoD’s national security priorities and anticipate technological disruptions.

Basic Requirements:
• Must have a Bachelor's degree, or higher, in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field
• Must have 16, or more, years of general (full-time) experience
• Must have 15, or more, years of progressive experience in IT architecture
• Must have 5, or more, years in a Chief Architect or equivalent senior leadership role within a large-scale enterprise environment.
• Must have proven industry experience in a chief architect role, demonstrating successful leadership of architecture teams and delivery of high-impact projects in and across multiple enterprise sectors such as Department of Defense, Public Sector, Commercial.
• Must have broad technical expertise across multiple domains, including cloud computing (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), cybersecurity, data analytics, AI/ML, DevOps, and enterprise software systems.
• Must have proven experience designing architectures for large-scale enterprise systems, including cloud migrations and digital transformation projects.
• Must have an in-depth understanding of IT service management (ITSM) frameworks.
• Must have an in-depth understanding of ITIL framework and best practices, including incident management, problem management, change management, and service release management.
• Must have experience leading and mentoring technical teams.
• Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance
Desired Requirements:
• Have an ITIL v4 Foundation Certification (Managing Professional preferred).
• Have broad technical knowledge across cloud platforms, cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, zero-trust), data interoperability, emerging technologies (e.g., AI/ML, quantum-resistant systems), and industry trends (e.g., hybrid cloud, DevSecOps).
• Have experience in a specific industry (e.g. DoD IT Operations).
• Have Project Management experience.
• Have an ITIL Strategic Leader certification.
• TOGAF 9 Certified (The Open Group Architecture Framework)
• DoDAF Certification (DoD Architecture Framework)

• IT Service Management (ITSM) Certifications; ITIL Expert, COBIT 2019 Foundation, ITIL Management Professional

• PMP (Project Management Professional)
• Certified ScrumMaster (CSM) or SAFe 6 Architect
This position is expected to pay $180,000 - $220,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
