We have an exciting opportunity for a Data Systems Architect and Integration Lead to join the team.

The Data Systems Architect and Integration Lead will:

  • Develop and lead the implementation of data and document management strategies across internal operations, databases, storage systems, and public-facing systems within the Curation Collections.
  • Design integrated systems, tools, and processes that promote standardized, scalable, and sustainable data and document management, in close partnership with the Curation Collections Management Team.
  • Collaborate with a wide range of internal (e.g., NASA customers, lab personnel) and external stakeholders (e.g., IT/security teams, developers, public application users) to identify system requirements, data relationships, and optimization opportunities and lead cross-functional teams in the implementation of system updates.
  • Establish and maintain robust data and document governance policies to ensure quality, compliance, security, and consistency across the department.
  • Create and implement standards for data and document quality, including establishing routines for quality monitoring.


Requisition Qualifications:



    This position has been posted at multiple levels. Depending on the candidate's experience, requirements, and business needs, we reserve the right to consider candidates at any level for which this position has been advertised.

    • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a related area and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
    • Degree in Data Science, Library and Information Science, Management Information Systems, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
    • Knowledge of Integrated Library Systems (ILS), Digital Asset Management (DAM), Enterprise Content Management (ECM), low-level database implementations such as MS SQL Server, and cloud-based storage solutions (e.g., SharePoint).
    • Basic proficiency in coding (e.g., Python, SQL, etc.) and familiarity with data management plans, metadata standards and digital preservation frameworks.
    • Excellent communication, team leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.


    Requisition Preferences:

    • 5+ years in a scientific, technical, or corporate library/data role, with demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and manage project timelines.

    Essential Functions

    Work Environment

    Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on task.

    Physical Requirements

    Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of time). May require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of time).

    Equipment and Machines

    Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, printer, etc.).

    Attendance

    Regular attendance in accordance with established work schedule is critical. Ability to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.

    Other Essential Functions

    Professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation. Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
