About the Opportunity Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. To do this, we are seeking to continuously employ talented individuals to join our diverse team that are excited about nuclear projects and are committed to Net Zero, and Energy Security.

Amentum are recruiting a Delivery Manager who will be responsible for day-to-day site supervision and direction of the works in the field to deliver the project safely and efficiently. This responsibility extends to all construction and related activities, and includes logistics, planning and implementation in collaboration with the wider functions and teams (e.g.: Site Operations, SZC supply chain team, the SZC quality team and suppliers), programming and planning, monitoring and close out of authorities’ obligations and conditions in collaboration with the wider multi-disciplinary team and where appropriate the preconstruction team.
The role will also have specific Principal Contractor duties and will be Responsible for discharging the duties of the Principal Contractor in line with the CDM Regulations (2015) in line with the Projects Area Management Strategy. Key responsibilities will be:
- Site Delivery - Sub Programme Area (tbc): the role will assist the Area Delivery Manager in delivering scope to cost, schedule and quality. This post also has the responsibility to ensure operational delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning activities or work package, in accordance with the overall Project schedule
- Site Delivery - HSEQ Delivery; the role will assist the Area Delivery Manager in ensuring that all delivery across the Site Delivery sub-programme is cognisant of industry best practice and compliant with SZC standards
- Site Delivery - Area Management; Discharging Principal Contractor duties to plan, manage, coordinate and monitor the work, ensuring Pre-Construction Planning is fully integrated and coordinated to ensure interfaces are identified and agreed, any hotspots resolved, logistics arrangements (access, egress, laydown, emergency preparedness, etc.) are in place. Monitoring safety and quality on site
- Work with the Project Teams to define the work scope to be delivered within the contracts or packages of work and the interfaces to the other elements of the programme
- Ensuring effective execution of strategies and plans in line with the overall Programme Execution Plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised, and executed
- Maintaining effective communications with all stakeholders and execute the project or PEP strategies
- Drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business and technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide the Area Delivery Leadership team with reports on these matters
- Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of issues raised, develop and propose updates to the programme and/or budget
- Ensure schedule is developed and maintained on their scope, consistently within the overall Project schedule. Escalate any discrepancies to the Area Delivery Manager and ensure the List of Deliverables (LOD) relating to the scope of work is delivered
- Apply the principles of Continuous Improvement and ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual
- Interface with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice and ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled
Qualifications - Degree and chartered status in an engineering, construction, or other related field desirable
- Record of delivering projects within a technically complex and dynamic environment whilst ensuring high levels of safety, security, and environmental responsibility, ideally within the Nuclear Energy sector or similar regulated environment
- Demonstrate success in managing / developing: Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery, Multi-discipline EPCM projects, Procurement and management of complex contracts, Control of costs; risk; schedule and change and proficient in the use of Earned Value tools, Experience of successfully engaging groups of stakeholders.
- Able to demonstrate strong management skills including construction management, change management and facilitation. Proficient in the use of scheduling and risk tools.
- Experience of managing contractors, consultants, and other advisors throughout large and complex construction projects, in a regulated environment. Including NEC contracts and good knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled and understand how to apply a graded approach to quality
