Summary/General Description Of Job:

Incumbent will utilize their expertise and knowledge of varied and advanced functions of several types of software to perform such typical duties as: editing and reformatting written or electronic drafts, i.e., transcribing reports, lab analyses, or similar material from voice tapes or handwritten or typed drafts.

Essential Duties & Job Functions:

• Gathers data, inputs data through computer, and generates data reports, and creates spreadsheets or similar formats.

• Processes and routes such things as submittals, daily reports, payrolls, job plans, bid packages, and associated construction and work generation information.

• Corrects copy and makes inquiries to the originator of documents concerning missing information, or discrepancies in instructions utilizing familiarity with office terminology and practices.

• Sets priorities and deadlines on continuing assignments in accordance with contract requirements and prior supervisory instructions.

• Uses automated systems, such as word processing programs and other office programs on personal computers to produce a variety of documents, such as correspondence, memos, publications, forms, reports, tables and graphs.

• Performs routine clerical tasks, such as operating copiers, filing, answering telephones, and sorting and distributing mail for the department.

• Contacts various governmental entities and command authorities, subcontractors, construction monitors, and other Company employees for clarification / guidance when necessary.

• Performs other related duties as assigned.

May perform work in other classifications when incidental work is necessary to the accomplishment of the work assignment. Significant work in another job classification may be required if accompanied by any wage adjustments applicable.

• The proper use of tools and/or equipment needed to be successful as a Department Assistant.

• Completing all mandated training requirements per government and management directives.

• Timely and cost effective performance of duties.

• Timely completion and accuracy of all departmental work.

• Dealing with a variety of people in a professional, courteous manner in diversified situations.

• Adherence to established company safety policies and good industrial and office safety practices.

• Compliance with company Standard Operating Procedures and Personnel policies and procedures.

Having the ability to work well under pressure.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience, Professional Associations):

Mandatory

• High school education or equivalent.

• Two (2) years clerical experience required.

• One (1) year personal computer experience in a professional capacity required.

• Must be able to type 55 w.p.m.

• Possess ability to work effectively under deadline pressure.

• Ability to transcribe from tape, draft, or handwritten notes.

• Ability to generate documents from oral instructions.

• Valid state driver’s license with acceptable driving record.

• Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract.

• U.S. Citizenship.

Preferred

Wages - $25.87/hr (Union position)
