Depot Level FLIR Tech - Customs & Border Protection

The Depot Level FLIR Technician has overall responsibility to repair and replace line replaceable units (LRUs), sub-replaceable assemblies (SRAs) and troubleshoot SRAs to component level.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Responsible for depot level support of the following forward-looking infrared systems (FLIR): WESCAM MX-20 and WESCAM MX-15HD Flir systems, Flir Systems Inc. 380HD, Star HD, Ultra 7500, Ultra 8500, Star Safire, Star Safire II and Sea Flir II FLIR systems.    
  • Interact with customer and technicians daily via telephone or in person to provide field level technical assistance to resolve sensor discrepancies.
  • May be required to accompany test flights to gather fault-isolation information and troubleshoot discrepancies.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a CBP Background Investigation Suitability clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain the clearance.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of experience in electronics and electromechanical troubleshooting or robotics
  • Must be able to use NAVAIR Technical Manuals, manufacturer’s maintenance manuals and schematics to troubleshoot and repair defective parts to component level.
  • Must be able to use Engineering Orders to incorporate circuitry modifications and upgrades, collimators, analog oscilloscopes, digital oscilloscopes, digital meters, frequency counters, signal generators and Test Stations to repair FLIR system and camera systems to component level.
  • Must be capable of soldering conventional components on through-hole circuit boards and solder micro-miniature surface mount components.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience with depot level FLIR repair is desired, although experience in electronics and electromechanical troubleshooting or robotics will be considered.
  • Associate degree or higher in an electronic or networking field, preferred.
  • Experience with Churchill Mapping Systems, Avalex AMS7102 Mapping Systems, Technisonic TDFM radios and Wulfsberg RT5000 radio systems is desirable.
