Responsibilities: § Responsible for managing the Design Engineering departments, which include Civil/Str/Arch, Mechanical, and Electrical departments.
§ Responsible for managing engineering projects of all sizes, disciplines, and complexity, and/or multiple projects. Assist in proposal development and project management of small, medium, and large complex projects or group of projects to include disciplines of mechanical, electrical, controls, civil, architectural, and structural engineering.
• Serve as a point of contact for development and discussion of new opportunities and, subsequently, project objectives, scope, and budget within the company and between the company and the client.
• Lead a team in the accomplishment of work on projects of all sizes and in the development of all required documentation/deliverables within budget and schedule constraints.
• Control project work accomplishments vs. scope of services contracted, assess progress vs. schedule and budget; resolve conflicts or elevate conflicts to management level necessary for resolution.
• Evaluate performance of project team members.
§ Will report directly to the Director of Engineering Services.
BS degree from an accredited engineering school and eight (8) to twelve (12) years of engineering experience with at least one (1) year in project or discipline management, or a MS degree from an accredited engineering school and seven (7) to ten (10) years of engineering experience or a Ph.D. degree and two (2) to five (5) years related experience. Demonstrated competence in project or design management and technical competence in engineering discipline field(s) and knowledge of company policies and practices. Requires demonstrated leadership skills, ability to function under pressure, demonstrate resource management capability, technical competence and thorough knowledge of engineering and project policies and practices.
- Design or Project Management oversight for design and construction projects with the understanding of design documentation requirements and preparation to complete a successful project.
- PE registration preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft word, excel, project, and Outlook.
- Knowledgeable in budget reporting and understanding programs associated with project management.
Essential Functions Work Environment: Office environment. (90%)
Test facilities and active construction site environment - loud noise and potentially hazardous equipment operation. (10%)
Travel between office and various facilities is required.
Physical Requirements: Limited time spent on active construction sites.
Must be physically capable of walking and climbing over rough terrain and working at elevated heights and confined spaces.
Construction sites are common areas of high noise levels due to construction equipment and facility test operations. (10%)
Appropriate PPE and training will be provided for all conditions.
Must be able to walk, stand, bend, twist and sit for extended periods as well as climb, crawl, and lift up to 35 lbs.
Equipment and Machines: Standard office equipment (PC, telephone, fax, copier, etc.) (90%) including the following typical PC Software-Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Microsoft Project.
Safety and Personal Protective Equipment (10%)
Attendance: Regular attendance mandatory (100%)
Overtime/work outside normal schedule required (5% - 20%)
Other Essential Functions: U.S. Citizenship required. Valid Real ID compliant identification - www.dhs.gov/real-id Must be able to obtain and maintain a security clearance as required. Must be able to work in a team atmosphere and put forward a professional behavior that enhances productivity and promotes teamwork and cooperation.
Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
Must be able to balance scope, schedule, and budget to insure project success.
The work environment requires the ability to cooperate and work with individuals at all levels of the company and the client.
