Amentum is seeking a Network Engineer CCIE, Senior to join our team of passionate individuals in Ft. Meade, MD. In this role you will support challenging, mission-critical projects that make a direct impact on the Nation’s security and intelligence mission.

Your Impact:

In support of a DISA effort, Amentum is assembling a team of network engineers, systems engineers, Unified Communications Engineers, and Integration Engineers, change management specialists, information assurance professionals, and procurement personnel knowledgeable in SCRM processes to support a program that provides critical network capabilities to the Department of Defense. Amentum is committed to recruiting and retaining this team for prototype development, test, and demonstration, as well as making this team available longer term for integration, deployment and sustainment as needed.

Responsibilities:

Network Architecture & Design:

  • Lead the design, architecture, and implementation of complex enterprise network solutions, including campus, data center, and wide area networks
  • Develop detailed network architecture diagrams, documentation, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Provide expert guidance and recommendations on network best practices, emerging technologies, and strategic roadmap development


Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela/Catalyst SD-WAN) Expertise:

  • Design, deploy, configure, and optimize Cisco SD-WAN solutions (vEdge/cEdge platforms) for branch connectivity, application optimization, and multi-cloud access
  • Manage and troubleshoot SD-WAN controllers (vManage, vBond, vSmart, cisco.smart.io)
  • Implement and manage routing policies, security policies, and quality of service (QoS) within the SD-WAN fabric
  • Migrate existing WAN infrastructures to Cisco SD-WAN


Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center) & SDA Management:

  • Serve as the technical SME for Cisco Catalyst Center, including design, deployment, and operational support
  • Implement and manage Cisco Software-Defined Access (SDA) fabrics, including fabric design, policy enforcement, and endpoint onboarding
  • Leverage Catalyst Center for network automation, assurance, analytics, and policy management
  • Integrate Catalyst Center with other network management and security platforms.


MPLS & Segment Routing Implementation:

  • Design, configure, and troubleshoot MPLS deployments, including L2VPN (VPWS, VPLS) and L3VPN services
  • Implement and manage Segment Routing over MPLS (SR-MPLS) for traffic engineering and path optimization
  • Understand and apply concepts of Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), OSPF, EIGRP, and ISIS in large-scale MPLS environments


Traditional Routing & Switching:

  • Expert-level configuration and troubleshooting of Cisco routers (e.g., ASR, ISR) and switches (e.g., Catalyst 9k, Nexus 9k, Catalyst 8000 series)
  • Deep understanding and practical experience with advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS) and their optimization
  • Proficient in switching technologies (VLANs, Spanning Tree, EtherChannel, VSS/StackWise Virtual, VPC, HSRP/VRRP/GLBP)
  • Implement and manage network services such as NAT, ACLs, QoS, and IP Multicast


Network Automation & Programmability:

  • Utilize scripting languages (e.g., Python, Ansible, Terraform) for network automation, configuration management, and infrastructure as code
  • Work with REST APIs for integration and automation of network devices and platforms


Troubleshooting & Operations:

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting of complex network issues across various technologies and platforms
  • Lead root cause analysis (RCA) for critical network incidents
  • Develop and maintain comprehensive network monitoring, alerting, and reporting solutions


Mentorship & Documentation:

  • Provide technical leadership, guidance, and mentorship to junior network engineers and operational teams
  • Maintain detailed technical documentation, including network diagrams, change logs, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)


Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma; Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field strongly preferred
  • Minimum of 12-15 years of hands-on experience in designing, implementing, and managing large-scale enterprise networks
  • In-depth experience with Cisco SD-WAN (Viptela/Catalyst SD-WAN) deployments and operations
  • Extensive hands-on experience with Cisco Catalyst Center (DNA Center) and Software-Defined Access (SDA)
  • Proven expertise in MPLS-based technologies, including L3VPNs, L2VPNs, and Segment Routing
  • Mastery of advanced routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, ISIS) and their optimization
  • Strong understanding of switching technologies in campus and data center environments (e.g., Catalyst, Nexus platforms)
  • Proficiency in network automation using scripting languages (e.g., Python) and automation tools (e.g., Ansible)


Preferred Skills:

  • CCIE Enterprise Infrastructure (or CCIE Route & Switch) Certification (strongly desired).
  • Experience with Intelligence Community network environments
  • Experience with network security fundamentals
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and change management processes

The base salary range for this position is $160,000 to $180,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
