We are hiring Fastener Test Technician to work at the Livonia Transmission lab in Livonia, MI.
This is a position for those with some knowledge and experience in automotive, either on the job or as a hobby. The Fastener Test Technician primarily conducts torque to failure testing of threaded fasteners to determine assembly torque specifications. This testing also validates engineering joint designs and may assist in the resolution of assembly plant issues. The technician works with Ford fastener engineers, design and release engineers, and other fastener test technicians.
Position Duties
Provide fastener and joint testing including, but not limited to:
Assembly of components prior to testing
Securing of components in a vise or clamped to a table
Run down of the bolt or nut using power tools for torque to failure or torque plus angle tests.
Interpretation of torque angle curves
Manual torque wrench measurements for joint relaxation
Writing reports from the collected test data.
Position Qualifications
Associates degree in Automotive Technology, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or similar hands-on automotive experience or training.
Knowledge of automotive systems, parts, and assemblies.
Ability to use wrenches, sockets, and electric nut runners.
Experience in conducting tests, analyzing data, and writing reports
Basic computer skills in Microsoft Office Outlook, Excel, and Word
Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
Self–motivated, team oriented, and able to work with others
US citizen or permanent residency status
