Purpose: FSR advises, assists, and provides maintenance oversight of AFU Personnel and repairs, including performance of maintenance and repair of various types of Military equipment. Inspects all maintenance and repair efforts of Self-Propelled Rocket Artillery Equipment, Systems and Platforms alongside AFU personnel. Will inspect all maintenance and repair efforts of field artillery (M109’s/M992’s).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs field and sustainment Inspections on medium self-propelled track systems and on ammunition track carriers.
  • Inspects, troubleshoots, and diagnoses faults in armament and automotive systems of the M109-series howitzer, M992 Field Artillery Ammunition Carrier (FAAC).
  • Oversees and or conducts inspections on different classifications of tracked vehicles/equipment at the unit level.
  • Oversees and or conducts initial inspections upon delivery of equipment and records data information for the processing of maintenance work orders troubleshoots identified faults and in-process inspections as required during the repair phase. Conducts a final inspection upon completion of maintenance repairs to ensure quality product outputs are met.
  • Responsible for providing mentorship and advising AFU personnel on designated platform and ensuring tasks are completed to standard, track and collect historical data and accountability of AFU personnel who have attended.
  • Responsible for providing feedback from MRO and monitoring ESR for assigned platform.
  • Prepares records of inspection/tests and make them available to the QA/QC Department.
  • Verifies procedures being used are adequate for the effective control of quality, rejects defective workmanship and materials, verifies and certifies the test results on supporting documents.
  • Provides guidance and technical assistance to shop maintenance personnel on inspection principles of workmanship, procedures to be employed, and quality of work expected.
  • Ensures compliance with government and corporate regulations, company SOPs, directives, and technical manuals to establish and maintain a quality management program.
  • Maintains cross talk with QA and LAR representatives.
  • Ensures strict compliance to safety practices and support the Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Instills a safety-first mentality within respective work areas and a culture that achieves low accident rates and minimal lost-time injuries.
  • Adheres to ISO Policies, Procedures, and Work Instructions in support of Quality Management System.
  • Performs all other position related duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Position Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Education:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 6 years related experience.
  • Experienced using U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) Unique Logistics Support Applications (TULSA), required.
  • Global Combat Support System (GCSS-Army) experience, required.

Specialized Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have knowledge of diagnostics tools and forms used at the unit level.
  • Must be able to read vehicle/equipment schematics.
  • Must have the ability to analyze and interpret U.S. Army Technical Manuals with relation to vehicle maintenance and repair.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge with Logistics Information Warehouse (LIW), preferred.
  • International driver’s license prior to deployment preferred.

Certification, License & Clearance:

  • Valid US Driver’s license required.
  • US Citizenship required.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a CAC, if required.

Facility credentials/authorization required:

Must be able to obtain and maintain facility and credential /authorization:

Note- US Citizenship is required for facility credential/authorization at this work location.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

  • Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs.
  • Must be able to work in extreme environmental conditions including dust and high temperatures.
  • Must be able to endure long hours, exposure to weather and hazardous conditions.
  • When performing work, responsible for adhering to environmental, safety, and health standards related to the activity, including the wearing of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
