The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Be able to operate, generally maintain all types of light and heavy equipment, both diesel and gasoline engine powered.

• Must know quadrant of operation, read/load charts, know the structural/stability of all cranes and know the dynamic and

shock loading of cranes.

• Select, secure and adjust suitable chains, cables, slings, hooks and other lifting and securing devices to properly load/

unload and balance a variety of equipment, and other items being moved or positioned by mobile cranes.

• Safety check cranes, forklifts, Aerial Platforms etc., before and after operations.

• Operate Mobile Hydraulic cranes. Operate motor vehicles with responsibility for proper loading and unloading. May

operate heavy trucks and truck-trailers (4-ton and over) to transport materials and equipment to various areas within the

installation.

• Operate ground support equipment as required to accomplish work assignment.

• Ability to fabricate wire rope and proof load equipment.

Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and technical training in the applicable area and three years related experience.

NCCCO preferred and Class A CDL with hazmat.

• Effective verbal and written communicate skills.

• Analytical and problem solving skills.

• Ability to hold the necessary security clearances.

• Ability to obtain and maintain valid certifications, licenses, and permits, as required for performance of assigned tasks.

• Requires the ability to interact effectively with co-workers and managers.

Physical Requirements:

• Will be required to climb stairs in order to access equipment for trouble shooting.

• Climbing ladders and platforms will be necessary.

• Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection and other associated personal protective equipment.

• Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

• Physical requirements are: sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

• Must be able to work in tight confined space areas.

Work Environment:

Must be willing and able to do shift work,shift work is based on seniority.

• All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and Company safety standards.

• Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

• Position requires daily individual to travel to different areas on site.

• Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand is required to access various locations on the

facility.

Equipment and Machines:

• Cranes and other heavy equipment such as crane carriers, Hi-Rangers, man lift platforms, hydraulic lifts, spider staging,

converter dollies, cargo lift trailers, and tractor/trailers. Motor-Grader experience desirable.

• Operate computer terminals, personal computers, and related computer peripheral equipment to maintain/adjust database

logs and records, print documents and record work performance.

• Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including

desk supplies.
