Heavy Equipment Mechanic- Supervisor
Purpose: Provides supervision, direction, and support to personnel assigned to the Maintenance Department.
Positions reporting to this function: The Maintenance Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day execution of the maintenance program and maintenance section personnel under this effort.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to fulfill each essential duty satisfactorily.
- Ensures that all quality standards and metrics are met, and that all work is properly completed.
- Manages assigned resources necessary to accomplish the mission.
- Enforces strict adherence to technical data and management procedures.
- Adjusts resources to meet production requirements.
- Manages the special certification roster.
- Ensures accurate daily documentation of maintenance actions.
- Reviews and evaluates management and production effectiveness.
- Initiates management actions to meet new workloads or correct reported/perceived deficiencies.
- Participates in the maintenance planning cycle.
- Ensures only qualified personnel accomplish maintenance with the appropriate equipment and tools.
- Ensures compliance with safety directives, appropriate occupational safety and health standards, and applicable industrial safety publications. Those occupational training requirements that require documentation will be annotated on the appropriate records.
- Ensures scheduled and unscheduled maintenance actions are entered and completed in Global Combat Support System - Army (GCSS-A).
- Advises the production supervision of conditions that may disrupt the orderly and controlled execution of the maintenance plan.
- Perform all other position related duties as assigned or requested. Ensures all personnel understand and follow all Company and Government policies, procedures, and directives.
- Ensure all personnel follow all Safety directives for APS-2.
- Able to manage employee vacation, sick leave, time sheets, labor cards and job management.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualification & Experience Requirements: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and/or abilities required.
- High School Graduate or equivalent
- Must have a comprehensive knowledge of maintenance repairs on a variety of equipment and at least seven years of recent experience with a comprehensive knowledge of military governing regulations, policies, procedures, and instructions. Background in in military maintenance management a plus.
- 3+ years of leadership experience required.
- Ability to provide information and reports, resolve issues and recommend actions to improve delivery of services to the customers.
- Able to manage small teams of employees to include timesheets, man hours, sick leave, and production.
- In the absence of the manager, perform those duties as directed.
- Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and analytical skills are required.
- Must possess the appropriate verbal and written communications to conduct meetings, evaluate plans, and prepare reports, plans and working instructions.
- Excellent computer, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills required. Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Formal Training: GCSS-A certification and/or Military AIT/industry 40hr course equivalent. Must be able to produce GCSS-A Training and Certifications (GTRAC) within 30 days of hire.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all base access security requirements.
- Must be able to meet and maintain all LIS access requirements (Common Access Card).
Specialized knowledge and skills:
- Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English.
- Ability to independently operate with minimal supervision.
- Must possess a strong knowledge of operations, logistics, and maintenance.
- Must have demonstrated leadership and management skills, including a professional demeanor.
- Must have strong interpersonal communication skills and ability to work and communicate with other effectively.
- Driver’s license is required.
Additional Requirements:
1) LICENSE AND CERTIFICATIONS:
- Formal Training: GCSS-A certification and/or Military AIT/industry 40hr course equivalent. Must be able to produce GCSS-A Training and Certifications (GTRAC) within 30 days of hire.
2) PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Stooping, sitting, kneeling, standing, walking, lifting up to 50 pounds by themselves-51+ with the assistance of another person, touching dexterity (hand and finger), carrying, clear seeing-general, close vision, color perception, clear speech, driving vehicle, moving objects.
- Ability to perform job duties efficiently and effectively up to a 48-hour work week.
- Must be able to endure long hours (overtime as required).
3) WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and outside weather conditions. The employee may be exposed to situations where risk of electrical shock and vibration exist. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and risk of radiation. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
- May be required to deploy on missions on short notice at the direction of the PMO.
