Amentum is seeking a Launch and Recovery Manager to join our team on Andros Island, Bahamas to support the Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center (AUTEC) mission. The Launch and Recovery Manager manages and oversees all Launch/Recovery activities on the AUTEC project in accordance with the NAVSEA, NAVAIR and NAVFAC standards. This position will be responsible for the maintenance and repair of launcher/recovery systems used to launch target and torpedoes from both helicopter and marine vessels. This position will be responsible for the shipyard interface and supervision of work performed on launcher/recovery systems while marine vessels are in the shipyard. This position will also supervise and train personnel to launch, recover and maintain the systems utilized to launch both targets and torpedoes on the AUTEC project. Candidate must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

 Essential Responsibilities:

  • Be responsible for launch and recovery of NAVSEA/NAVAIR vehicles from vessels and helicopters.

  • Oversee and perform mechanical and electrical maintenance and repairs to various launcher systems (Telescopic Target Launcher/MK-32, Mod-17 Surface Launcher/Helicopter MK-146 Helicopter Launcher, MK-59 Torpedo Tube and the Smokey SAM Launchers).

  • Oversee and Perform launch operations to include fire control systems aboard marine vessels and helicopters of various NAVSEA/NAVAIR undersea vehicles.

  • Manage, track and perform maintenance on hydraulic, mechanical, and electrical equipment to support the launcher and recovery systems both on shore and at sea.

  • Perform and track incoming inspections on RFI undersea vehicles; handling, preparation, post run and transport of vehicles and associated equipment in accordance with NAVAIR/NAVSEA/NAVFAC guidelines.

  • Operate tractor-trailer, forklift, and overhead cranes per NAVFAC guidelines.

  • Conduct rigging operations of heavy equipment per NAVFAC standards.

  • Handle, package, transport hazardous ordnance material up to 1.1 per NAVORD standards.

  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 1-3 years of experience leading and motivating a team.

  • High School diploma or GED equivalent.

  • A valid Class A, CDL (U.S. or Bahamian) is required.

  • Must be able to complete the Ordnance Qualification and Certifications within 3 months of employment and be certified as an all-up QA/SO within one year.

  • NAVFAC CAT 3 crane training on site within 3 months of hire.

  • Knowledge and familiarity of crane operations and maintenance.

  • Familiarity and experience with the Ordnance Information System.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds of material or equipment.

  • Must be able to reside in remote work location with limited medical facilities.

  • Valid Class A CDL and passport will be required.

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S. Government Clearance. Note: U.S. Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s level degree in Mechanical Engineering or related Engineering discipline preferred.

  • Past experience in related engineering fields, preferred.

  • CAD and modeling skills as well as experience using other support software such as Project, Word, Excel and Power Point preferred.

  • Working knowledge of Telescopic Target Launcher/MK-32, Mod-17 Surface Launcher/Helicopter MK-146 Helicopter Launcher, MK-59 Torpedo Tube and the Smokey SAM Launchers, preferred.
