U.S. Central Command and its mission partners require professional services to conduct persistent, networked, and distributed operations to counter adversarial misinformation, disinformation, and propaganda in the information environment.  We are looking for critical thinkers, problem solvers, and motivated individuals who are enthusiastic about data and believe that answers to hard questions lie in the yet-to-be-told story of diverse, complicated data sets. Amentum Data Scientists will tackle challenging real-world problems leveraging big data, high-performance computing, machine learning, and a breadth of other methodologies.  You will employ your mathematical science, computer science, qualitative and quantitative analysis skills to develop solutions to complex data problems and take full advantage of capabilities to tackle some of the Nation’s highest priority challenges.

As part of the Amentum team, you will work closely with the client to understand their information requirements, before leveraging their data-rich environment to develop answers and solutions in support of real-world missions. Data science is present in every aspect of the mission. You will focus on building scalable data pipelines and analytic platforms to extract insights from data, leveraging open-source tools and managed cloud services. You will work with a cross-functional team of data scientists, software engineers, and subject matter experts applying elements of mathematics, statistics, computer science, and application-specific knowledge to gather, make, and communicate principled conclusions from data and develop enterprise-grade analytic capabilities. Evaluate and advise on innovations and improvements.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience with data science, data analytics, machine learning, or statistics, including in a management or advisory role
  • 2+ years of experience in a management or advisory role
  • Experience with object-oriented programming languages, including Python, C++, Java, R, and SQL.
  • Experience with cloud services, including AWS and Azure
  • Experience with identifying and analyzing data sets to meet customer requirements
  • Experience with preparing customer data for models, including merging and aggregating data, handling anomalies, balancing, and feature selection
  • Experience in data validation and cleaning to ensure the quality and integrity of data
  • Experience with AI/ML, data algorithms, and predictive models
  • Experience with data analysis and reporting, including dashboard development, data cleansing, metrics analysis, and research
  • Ability to help interpret model results and communicate them clearly through compelling data visualizations
  • Must possess TS/SCI clearance (Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a clearance)
  • Master’s degree in data science, CS, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or Statistics

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with a wide range of supervised and unsupervised machine learning techniques, including neural networks, decision trees, logistic regressions, or dimension reduction
  • Experience with data engineering and data science tools, including Databricks, ElasticSearch, Apache NiFi, or StreamSets
  • Experience with enterprise DataOps, DevSecOps, and MLOps processes to operationalize and monitor data science models
  • Experience with Agile development
  • Experience with CI/CD, including Git, Jenkins, and Docker
  • Knowledge of procedural SQL language, including PL and PGSQL
  • Ability to explain analytic and model findings to non-technical audiences
  • Experience with implementing data strategy and data governance practices
  • Knowledge of natural language processing techniques
  • Ability to create pivot tables, formulas, macros, and data models using Microsoft Excel and VBA

  • PhD in data science, CS, Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, or Statistics
