Amentum is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to support our federal program at Ft Meade, MD. The Intel and Cyber Division is assembling a team of highly skilled systems engineers to prototype a next-generation collaboration capability for the Department of Defense. As the Lead Systems Engineer you will lead a small team responsible for high- and low-level system design, development, integration, performance testing, demonstration and government acceptance testing, culminating in deployment to initial production sites.

Responsibilities:

  • Assess and identify appropriate solutions based on system requirements
  • Lead system design, development, and engineering tasks
  • Manage and track SE team’s workload using in Agile sprints using JIRA and Confluence tools.
  • Produce system architecture design, component selection, and integration planning
  • Provide technical guidance to system engineering team
  • Manage deployment of enterprise-level virtual environment software and management suites (ESXi and Nutanix hypervisors)
  • Design and implement system network configurations with an overall goal of highly adaptable, scalable, and resilient services in a global system deployment
  • Install, configure, test, and maintain operating systems, application software, and system management tools
  • Deliver and integrate new technical solutions and provide advice and recommendations to government customers.
  • Perform system and software updates to enhance performance
  • Develop and implement solutions across a wide range of technologies
  • Implement and maintain Government standards for system security
  • Liaise with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution


Requirements:

  • Experience with Windows Server2022, 2025, Citrix XenDesktop, VMware ESXi, Active Directory, SAN, VCP 7.X. & 8.X, Nutanix AHV and Prism.
  • Experience with designing and implementing Cisco UCS Computing Servers, Hyperflex Servers design
  • Experience working in a DoD classified environment
  • Demonstrated experience in security requirements associated with DoD enterprise systems
  • Familiarity with DoD cybersecurity policies, STIGs, and RMF processes
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications such as Excel, Word, Outlook, and SharePoint
  • Experience briefing high-level as well as detailed system capabilities and operational concerns and considerations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Exceptional attention to detail; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational skills; critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Ability to travel up to 25%


Clearance Required:

  • Active TS clearance with SCI eligibility


Minimum Education:

  • HS Diploma


Minimum Years of Experience:

  • 12+ years of related experience


Required Certifications:

  • Must meet DoD 8570.01-M IAT-II or IAM-I baseline certification requirements such as Security + or equivalent
  • Certified in accordance with Cyber Workforce Management Program DoDD 8140.1 and DoD 8570.01-M


Preferred:

  • MCSE Certification
  • BS in Computer Science or related technical degree
  • Familiarity with Agile Scrum methodologies and JIRA/Confluence tools
  • Familiarity with Intelligence Community systems.
  • VMware certification VCP 7.x/8.x
  • Experience with Infoblox
  • Experience with Nutanix
  • Experience with Commvault 11.x
  • Experience with System Center Configuration Manager 2012 or higher
  • Experience with Windows Server 2025, SQL 2016, SharePoint 2016, and other related technologies
  • Experience with ACAS, Trellix endpoint security, and MECM
  • Familiarity with ITILv4
  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange 2016
  • Experience developing IT checklists, SOPs, guides, etc

The base salary range for this position is $170,000 to $190,000. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all US locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
