Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Description of Duties:

The Linux System Administrator supports the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) on the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The candidate will:

• Build, configure, deploy, administer, maintain and troubleshoot virtual and physical servers/systems.

• Research technologies and leverage optimization techniques to ensure systems operate efficiently.

• Perform necessary physical inspections and research using system/event logs and appropriate tools/software to identify problems, trends and aid in troubleshooting actions.

• Assist integration managers in problem definition and root cause analysis as needed.

• Perform vulnerability remediation and mitigations to include hardening of operating systems and STIG compliance

• Provide timely updates to appropriate team leads, managers and stakeholders on status of tasks and troubleshooting efforts.

• Collaborate and communicate with internal and external team members and customers as needed.

• Identify developer-documentation errors and provide to appropriate channels / personnel for correction.

• Use REMEDY ticketing system to report, track and document problem and resolution life-cycle actions on faulty systems.

Occasional off shift, extended, or weekend support may be required.

Occasional local travel may be required to support off-site customers and projects.

Basic Requirements:

Must have one of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) and 8 years of general experience; Associate’s degree and 6 years of general experience, Bachelor’s degree and 4 years of general experience, or a Master’s degree and 2 years of general experience

• Must have 5 years of related experience in business systems, operating systems, and servers and/or experience in light programming, project management of small initiatives, and troubleshooting

• Must have experience building, configuring and deploying servers/systems using VMware

• Must have administration/ troubleshooting experience on RHEL 7 and 8 using Command Line Interface

• Must have a current DoD approved 8570 Level II certification such as Security+ CE

• Must have, or obtain, an active DoD Secret Security Clearance

Desired Requirements:

• Have experience working with Ansible automation

• Have experience configuring and managing Network storage devices

• Have network troubleshooting experience

• Have experience implementing Multi Factor Authentication methodology

• Have experience with HP server hardware

• Knowledge of Missile Defense, DoD communications systems and MDIOC operations

• Degree in an IT or Engineering related discipline

This position is expected to pay $89,500 - $114,500 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.
