Objetivo: El asistente de servicios de alimentos trabaja como trabajador de cafetería y/o delicatessen/panadería y ayuda en la preparación, presentación y servicio de carnes especiales, exquisiteces, alimentos en conserva, quesos, ensaladas, panes y dulces a los clientes. El titular ayuda a pesar, fijar el precio y envolver alimentos seleccionados en platos, bandejas y bolsas; prepara exhibiciones de alimentos en mostradores y otras unidades de exhibición; saluda a los clientes cuando llegan al mostrador de servicio; toma pedidos especiales; y responde preguntas básicas de los clientes sobre alimentos especiales. Utilizando ingredientes preparados y siguiendo pasos rutinarios y repetitivos, este trabajador prepara sándwiches calientes y/o fríos, bandejas de frutas y verduras, ensaladas y pollo asado; puede cortar y/o mezclar ingredientes simples, según sea necesario; limpia mostradores y bandejas; lava platos y mantiene limpias las áreas de preparación, trabajo y exhibición; e inspecciona y limpia el equipo. Este trabajador puede ayudar en cualquiera o todas las siguientes tareas: medir y mezclar ingredientes según las instrucciones; ayudar a preparar, cocinar y decorar panes, panecillos, pasteles, tortas y otros productos de panadería; recibir y descargar camiones y almacenar existencias; tomar pedidos especiales o pedidos de alimentos inusuales de los clientes; y tomar pagos y dar cambio a los clientes.
Educación: Se requiere haber completado con éxito la capacitación sobre el uso seguro de sustancias químicas, comprender las etiquetas de los productos del fabricante y la información contenida en las hojas de datos de seguridad de los materiales (MSDS) de acuerdo con el Título 29, Código de Regulaciones Federales Parte 1910.1200 despues de obtener el trabajo. Debe demostrar la capacidad de preparar alimentos que cumplan con el DoD 1338.10-M. Debe poseer la capacidad de limpiar áreas de preparación de alimentos de acuerdo con MIL-STB-3006C.
Licencias/Certificaciones: Los asistentes de servicio de alimentos deben ser capaces de completar la capacitación de certificación de acuerdo con el TB Med 530–Tri Service Food Code.
Experiencia: Se prefiere algo de experiencia realizando trabajos en un entorno militar de tamaño y alcance similares.
Otras cualificaciones: Este puesto requiere habilidades como caminar, correr, trepar, gatear, saltar y otras actividades físicas similares. El trabajador debe poder soportar las condiciones de un entorno de cocina comercial y poder trabajar en él.
