About the Opportunity

We are looking for an individual to join our team supporting system and enterprise modelling activities for a UK defence project. You will be instrumental in defining, designing, and analysing complex systems using model-based techniques. You will work across the entire system lifecycle, from concept definition and requirements capture to architecture design, verification, and validation, ensuring that our solutions are robust, consistent, and meet stringent performance and safety standards. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong foundation in systems engineering and a proven ability to apply modelling principles to solve real-world challenges.

Key responsibilities:

  • System Modelling. Develop, maintain, and analyse system models using industry-standard MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo Systems Modeler, Sparx Enterprise Architect, Rhapsody) and languages (e.g., SysML, UML).

  • Requirements Management. Elicit, analyse, define, and manage system and stakeholder requirements, ensuring traceability throughout the model.

  • Architecture Definition. Design and document system architectures, including functional, logical, and physical views, using model-based approaches.

  • Trade Studies & Analysis. Conduct model-based trade studies, simulations, and analyses to evaluate design alternatives, predict system behaviour, and optimise performance.

  • Stakeholder Communication. Effectively communicate complex system concepts, designs, and analysis results to diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders using model views and visualisations.

  • Process Improvement. Contribute to the development and refinement of MBSE processes, standards, and best practices within the organisation.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Deep understanding of SysML and the practical application thereof across a range of tools in complex projects

  • Experience with architecture frameworks, such as TOGAF, UAF, and NAF

  • Experience using one or more of Sparx EA, PTC Modeler, or Cameo.

  • Solid understanding of the full systems engineering lifecycle (V-model, Agile, Iterative).

  • Demonstrable experience in requirements elicitation, analysis, and management.

  • Ability to define and articulate complex system architectures.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with experience in model-based analysis and simulation.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of conveying complex technical information clearly.

  • Familiarity with configuration management principles for models.

  • Ability to mentor and coach others

  • Ability to operate as part of an MBSE governance framework

  • Customers/sectors: Experience working within the UK MOD

  • Multiple years experience working on Defence IT systems
