Amentum is seeking a Motor Vehicle Operator - CDL to join our team in Hawthorne, Nevada  to support the Hawthorne Army Depot. The Motor Vehicle Operator - CDL will operate vehicles including automobiles, pickup trucks, and truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer coupled by use of a turntable or pintle hook. Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. 

Essential Responsibilities Include: 

  • Perform all work safely and with the utmost concern for the safety of self and other employees. 

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations. 

  • Be at work when scheduled and maintain a good attendance record. 

  • Work in close proximity to a demilitarization facility. 

  • Operate vehicles including automobiles, pickup trucks, trucks, and truck tractors with trailer or semi-trailer coupled by use of a turntable or pintle hook. 

  • Couples and uncouples trailers by manipulating fifth wheel, pintle hooks, lunettes, safety chains, brake hoses, and electrical connections. 

  • Follows Safety Data Sheet guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of Hazardous Materials. 

  • Performs work responsibilities with supervisory guidance, applying accepted craft or trade techniques, good housekeeping practices, and safe, efficient work procedures. 

  • Develops load data and distributes and secures cargo accordingly. 

  • Installs protective covering as necessary. 

  • Marks dangerous or protruding cargo and attaches chains to vehicles. 

  • Assists with the loading and unloading of the truck; including operating MHE and location of material in the storage site, when the driver's absence from the truck will not create a safety or security problem. 

  • Performs operator inspections of assigned equipment, documents deficiencies on designated checklist and submits to Vehicle Maintenance for repair actions.  

  • Determines malfunctions, advises repairman, and prepares write-ups. 

  • Services equipment by replenishing items such as coolant, fuel, oil, and air as appropriate.

  • Drains air tanks, filters, pumps, and segregators. 

  • Performs all other related duties as needed. 

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Must be 21 years of age or older. 

  • High School diploma/equivalent is required.  

  • At least 5 years of general driving experience with a clean record. 

  • Must have and maintain a valid state, Class A, CDL Driver’s License with a Hazardous Materials Endorsement.  

  • Must be willing and able to be trained to operate forklift/fork truck or material handling lifting devices. 

  • Must be willing to work overtime, varying hours and/or rotating shifts. 

  • Must maintain fitness-for-duty standards to perform the essential functions of the position, to include any Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) drill, contingency and/or emergency requirement. 

  • Ability to communicate clearly during normal and crisis situations. 

  • Must be able to perform work duties routinely, in a safe and effective manner, remaining alert and aware of potential work/safety hazards at all times, and especially alert, while performing safety sensitive duties. Must be willing and able to wear various levels of personal protective equipment.      

  • Must be computer literate in common software applications and able to operate general office equipment. 

  • Must be a United States or naturalized citizen able to obtain/maintain Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) site access. 

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance. 

SAFETY SENSITIVE 

This position is designated as a safety sensitive position and is subject to the requirements of the HWAD Medical Surveillance Plan and Matrix and the HWAD A&D Program. As a condition of employment, candidates and incumbents must favorably complete a personnel security investigation, drug testing, medical exam, and respiratory screening, and must meet and maintain personnel suitability and reliability requirements established by 29 CFR and Army Regulations: AR 190-11, AR 190-13 and DOD Contractors Safety Manual 4145.26.  

Compensation:

The starting hourly rate for this position is between $34.72 - $37.92 (Per the CBA). Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate.

Medical, vision, dental, STD and life insurance, PTO–120 hours per year, accrued at 4.62 hours per pay period, Sick leave–One (1) hour of accrual for every thirty (30) hours worked, Paid Holidays-Eleven (11) per calendar year, 401K, and an employee stock option plan.
