Without supervision, the Network Administrator will perform the network/system administration and help desk functions supporting a designated customer contract or program.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Supports the design, installation, maintenance, administration, and support of internal computer systems and networks in a multi-protocol LAN/WAN environment.
  • Performs advanced configuration, monitoring, maintenance and analysis of data processing equipment, databases, and video systems.
  • Installs and upgrades operating systems and other application software in a LAN/WAN client/server environment.
  • Provides Help Desk support, including troubleshooting and problem resolution, for all LAN/WAN hardware and software.
  • Maintains and manages connectivity using TCP/IP, IPX/SPX, NDS, NT Domain strategies and protocols.
  • Maintains and manages cross platform inter-connectivity including communication protocols, directory services and log in authentication.
  • Maintains and manages connectivity between multiple remote locations using WAN equipment and services.
  • Maintains and manages LAN/WAN security requirements through proper software/hardware tools and procedures including router and firewall management.
  • Provides end-to-end support for remote users of specialized remote control computer systems.
  • Support research and contribute recommendations for products for evaluation, testing, implementation, and integration, as needed.
  • Perform all other position related duties, as assigned, or requested.

Work Environment, Physical Demands, and Mental Demands:

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 20 pounds, kneeling, standing, and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Associate degree in a technical discipline or equivalent academic, military or technical training and 5 years of directly related experience on at least one of the following systems: SAN Storage, Server Blade, SQL, SharePoint, C2ISR video data, network performance software, and firewalls, or basic database administration.
  • Must have an active US DoD Top Secret security clearance with ability to obtain and maintain TS/SCI SAP/SAR Security clearance, as required. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Top Secret clearance.
  • Possess and maintain a DoD 8570.01-M IA Certification matched to assigned duties.
  • Must have advanced knowledge, and technical competence in the maintenance and management of LAN/WAN computer software and hardware and video systems.
  • Must possess advanced knowledge of network topology, communication standards, protocols, data transmission technology, and routers/switches.
  • Must possess excellent oral, written, and graphical communication skills.
  • Must be self-directed and able to establish and meet project guidelines/timelines.
  • Demonstrated experience in multi-protocol client server environments.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid state issued driver’s license.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in information technology or related field.
  • Completion of technical training courses and/or specialized certification programs, such as Cisco Network Associate (CCNA).

Compensation

The hourly rate for this position is $45.41, in accordance with the terms set forth in the applicable Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA).

Benefits for this position are provided in accordance with the applicable union Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). All accruals and benefit entitlements are subject to the terms and conditions outline in the union CBA.
