Amentum is seeking an Ordnance Engineer to join our team providing technical and engineering support to the Naval Surface Warfare Center, Dahlgren Division, Dahlgren, VA. 

The candidate will review and analyze technical ordnance/radar/communication data; update various ordnance databases; develop and review technical documentation related to MIL-STD-464, MIL-STD-461, MIL-HDBK-235, and MIL-HDBK-240; perform analyses of new and relocated transmitter and weapon systems with respect to ordnance maximum allowable environments (MAE); provide techniques of mitigation or develop emission control plans to eliminate or moderate conflicts.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

  • A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in a science or engineering degree field.

  • Eight (8) years of specialized E3 engineering experience with engineering/analytical experience in the understanding, operation, and evaluation of DoD weapon systems.

  • Two (2) years of experience in each of the following areas reviewing ordnance systems with respect to military standards and specifications such as MIL-HDBK-235/240 and MIL-STD-461/464.

  • Performing engineering analyses to identify the HERO status of weapon systems; maintaining and updating HERO documentation standards and specifications to be included in the HERO knowledge management systems, and Ordnance Inventory System (OIS).

  • Knowledge of ordnance handling/loading procedures of weapon systems.

  • Equivalent military training and/or work experience specifically related to ordnance or weapons systems is highly relevant and will be considered.

  • Minimal travel required (less than 5%).

  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.

  • Excellent communications and analytical skills.
