Essential responsibilities and daily duties include:
Perform troubleshooting, repairing, and overhauling control valves using approved technical work packages and technical publications. Tasking includes supporting removal and repairs to valves (replacement and rebuild), and repairs to other engineering systems and subsystems typically found aboard U.S. Navy vessels and boats.
Perform intermediate and depot-level repairs on all types of control valves and control valve subsystems, equipment, and auxiliary systems found aboard the US Navy/ former US. Navy vessels and boats in support of Egyptian Navy shipboard lifecycle maintenance requirements.
Provide detailed and technically accurate written condition and open and inspection reports. Use technical publications to identify and order required repair parts.
Participate as a member of the Amentum Ship Repair Team (SRT) in close coordination with the Industrial Manager.
Provide timely and comprehensive inputs for the Monthly Status Report.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or GED.
10 years of experience troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing issues with shipboard control valves. At least 4 years of direct shipyard or naval experience.
Proficiency with hand tools, precision measurement tools, and equipment to perform repairs and have a thorough knowledge of standard shipyard practices.
Ability to conduct pre and post shift meetings to ensure daily work is assigned, completed, and documented.
Possess a thorough knowledge of standard shipyard practices.
Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency with basic computer operation and able to create and maintain various reports and spreadsheets as required.
Ability to interpret vessel blueprints and ship drawings in addition to research ships’ systems manuals to identify problems as they arise.
Ability to diagnose and repair technical issues, provide customer support, and contribute to the overall maintenance and improvement of control valve systems.
Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. Must be proficient in English.
Ability to travel CONUS and OCONUS.
Ability to obtain a Country Clearance and Base Pass authorization.
Ability to possess a current passport at least two years before expiration after arrival in Egypt.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior ship maintenance experience or working knowledge of expectations and safety protocols related to a shipyard environment.
Experience working in an Arab country for long periods.
Experience with PMS 326 and/or Foreign Military Sales contracts.
