About the Opportunity

Amentum South Africa (Pty) Ltd, in Cape Town, who predominately work in the Nuclear (Energy) Industry for Eskom, have carried out numerous engineering, procurement and construction contracts to support operations for the South African public electricity utility. At Koeberg Nuclear Power Station in Cape Town, our projects range from providing additional spent fuel cooling capacity, station blackout mitigation and new hydrogen production and bulk storage plant, through to replacing the Data Acquisition system and Fire Detection system

Our largest single contract to date is for essential engineering modifications to allow for power uprate associated with the installation of new steam generators. This is part of a $1.2 billion (ZAR 20 billion) program for a 20-year life extension at Koeberg, which is South Africa’s sole nuclear power plant and generates 5% of the country’s electricity.

We are recruiting for a Planning and Scheduling Engineer to support delivery across our portfolio of projects, key responsibilities will be:

Planning and Scheduling

Develop proposal/tender Work Break Down schedules and programmes

Detailed timelines, organize the sequence of activities, allocate resources and materials, and ensure coordination

Manage schedules, analyze data, daily tracking, and update schedules based on actual progress

NEC contract monitoring - assist Project and Contract Manager

Schedule log, communication, tracking and delay analysis

Bid planning, WBS structures

Project Controls Management

Provide project controls management, including baseline schedule development and management, performance status and reporting, baseline change control, risk management, earned value management guidance and tools (if required)

Ensure the application of project controls processes are consistently applied

Manage governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance for the agreed Scope of Work across integrated programmes

Programme integration, governance, formats, plan optimisation, reporting and project controls best practices

Risk Management (risk mitigation) experience is advantageous

Here's What You'll Need

  • Relevant experience required or Degree educated in relevant subject
  • Professional level qualification in Project Management and/or Planning/Project Controls is advantageous
  • Proven experience and successful track record in a project execution related environment i.e., Project, Programme, PMO., specifically in terms of:
    • Planning Management
    • Cost Management
    • Change Management
    • Hands-on experience with industry accepted planning software. Primavera P6 Professional preferred
    • Solid understanding of procurement, engineering/design processes, and understanding of modern EPC construction projects (Mechanical/Electrical)
    • Experience of NEC (FIDIC) contracts, claims, compensation events and commercial aspects and how these are translated into and supported by the plan
  • Microsoft Office Suite skills: Word, Excel (pivot tables), Projects, PowerPoint
  • Excellent Communications Skills for Stakeholder Management on multiple levels both externally and internally
