Plant Engineering Zone Team Manager

This position reports directly to the Plant Engineering Chief Engineer and is responsible for managing activities for the Zone Teams. The position provides a consistent approach to engineering zone activities in the WTP facilities. Goals and objectives for the Plant Engineering zones are established to support the WTP Project mission in accordance with project procedures, Plant Engineering Project Instructions, and the Plant Engineering Program Description. This position has a responsibility for planning, organizing, managing, and directing activities within the assigned Plant Engineering zone. Additionally, this position is responsible for prioritization and management of all PENG activities in support of Plant Operations and Maintenance. This position is the direct interface between PENG and other organizations to status day-to-day work activities.

This position shall be performed under the day-to-day direction, control, and supervision of WTCC

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES/TASKS

  • Assign and ensure Plant Engineering staff meet training requirements and maintain their qualifications to perform work

  • Define the technical resolution for condition reports, and facilitates or completes assigned corrective actions

  • Develop budget and schedule for their organization

  • Ensure the health and safety of staff by implementing the principles of ISMS

  • Facilitate interfaces across multiple project organizations, tracking closure of technical issues/comments and ensuring the quality of final products

  • Implement appropriate corrective actions, up to and including cessation of work, when work is not in compliance with requirements

  • Lead various size groups of engineers and/or specialists, encouraging employee development and exhibiting good leadership principles

  • Maintain cognizance and protection of design and operating margins

  • Perform all work in compliance with environmental permits and regulations

  • Perform work to established procedures, guides, and execution planning

  • Present information verbally or in writing to groups internal and external to the project team

  • Present ideas clearly and listens effectively to the ideas of others

  • Provide technical input to, review of, and approval of Operations and Maintenance Technical Documents, including work package instructions

  • Provide technical support and assistance to operations and maintenance activities

  • Support the performance of Startup and Commissioning testing

  • Support the WTP Nuclear Safety Quality Culture by emphasizing the values of safety and quality in the performance of work

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads various size groups of engineers and/or specialists, encouraging employee development and exhibiting good leadership principles

Education: Bachelor of Science degree (or equivalent education) in an appropriate engineering discipline or related science from a four-year accredited college or university.

Experience: 10 years of professional experience in an engineering discipline or specialty. 3 years of supervisory experience, which could be a combination of lead, supervisor or manager experience.

Working knowledge of the following is preferred:

  • Project management, including understanding of the project change control and risk management processes

  • Capability to manage multiple assignments, including planning and scheduling of engineering tasks and delegation of assignments

  • Development of staffing, labor-hour and labor cost estimates and analysis to aid in planning and budget evaluation

  • Advanced level of specialized engineering knowledge within a specific discipline with basic understanding of other disciplines.

  • Detailed knowledge of engineering programs, policies, and procedures

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

(EFNM) Exposed Field Non-Manual

Performs desk work, including writing, computer workstation processes, and telephone operation. Arranges for and/or performs presentations, oral reports, planning meetings, and other formal and informal contacts, requiring long periods of sitting. Oversees field activities through inspections, testing and equipment operations, which requires walking, standing, bending, and turning along with wearing of personal protective equipment. Occasional loading, transport, and unloading of tools and/or supplies specific to an activity.

This position is located at the Construction Site (22 miles north of Richland) and works a 4 x 10 schedule, M-Th, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Must be authorized to work and remain in the United States without Amentum visa sponsorship now or in the future.

Must be able to complete and pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check which includes verification of employment and education.

Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy badge for access to the Hanford Site. (Even if teleworking, must still be able to comply with security requirements to obtain a badge.)

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

HIRING SALARY RANGE: $131,484.26 - $211,024.41(Salary to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
