Amentum is seeking a Policy Writer to support our U.S. Department of Energy and Counterintelligence (DOE-IN) contract. Positions will be based in Washington, D.C. With options of other locations such as West Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Newport News, VA.

Responsibilities Serves as policy writer, specific duties and functions include but are not limited to:

  • Developing, formatting, editing, revising, processing, reviewing, and coordinating organizational policies and procedures within the guidelines established by Executive Orders, Presidential Decision Directives, Federal Regulations, Departmental, and Intelligence Community guidance.

  • Developing and maintaining in-depth knowledge of overriding executive and IC guidance and IC initiatives involving the development and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.

  • Ensuring that all internal and external materials and communique are error-free, high quality, and consistent with Department and Intelligence Community standards and requirements.

  • Ensuring the organizational awareness of policy changes.

  • Updating and maintaining the policy and procedures repository.

  • Validating and documenting processes, guidelines, exceptions, authority levels and workflows.

  • Collecting information necessary to respond to inquiries and issues related to policy and procedures.

  • Formulating and exchanging communications that fully address all expressed issues, alternatives, and desired outcomes regarding policy and procedure matters.

  • Coordinating, processing, and tracking policy and procedure reviews and approvals.

  • Preparing reports, presentations, and summaries for Senior Management as required.

  • Creating templates and guidance for policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Must possess a current Department of Energy Q security clearance and Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI)
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Journalism or Business Administration other related discipline. A Master’s Degree in similar fields is desirable.
  • Five (5) years of experience in writing standard operating policies and procedures for government organization.
  • Must possess expert knowledge of MS Office Suite, excellent verbal and written communication skills; and experience developing new, and amending existing organizational policies and procedures within an IC organization.
  • Individual must have demonstrated strong editing skills and the ability to synthesize information from multiple sources into cohesive procedural documentation.
  • Must have a demonstrated ability to plan, organize, and prioritize workloads and work on own initiative.
  • Must have the ability to operate effectively either independently or in a team, making progress on tasks while dealing with potential process and project ambiguity.
  • Strong personal organization skills including the ability to multi-task and prioritize job requirements, ability to meet deadlines.
  • Must have demonstrated in depth knowledge of regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to permit successful interface with colleagues at all levels is also required.
  • Experience working in a counterintelligence environment and knowledge of the Department of Energy desired.
