Power Generation Senior Supervisor
The Power Generation Senior Supervisor will be located at one of three Amentum locations in Iraq. This is a supervisory position and will be associated with the Utilities Department. The Power Generation Supervisor will take ownership of all power generation operations. This position reports to the Site Operations Manager. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.
DUTIES:
- Provide technical/operational guidance and supervision to a team of 25 FN and 3LN and responsible for site operations, maintenance and services.
- Independently coordinate and perform duties to operate the 145 stand-by power generators made by Aggreko, Caterpillar, Cummins, FG Wilson and other manufacturers with outputs ranging from 17 kW up to 2,000 kW and 50 lights sets made by Arbor.
- Provide daily work assignments and supervise the Power Generation Operators.
- Manage and oversee the power generation (Spot & 50 Hz / 60Hz Prime Power plants), control room, power generation-distribution grid, switchgear, fusible switches, transformers, automatic transfer switches, load bank and fuel tanks.
- Manage and oversee mechanical, electrical, digital, and programmable logic controller (PLC) related diagnosis and repair.
- Provide preventive maintenance, condition monitoring, repair, installation, and modernization of all power generation controls equipment on the BDSC compound.
- Report any malfunctions or lack of compliance with Statement of Work (SOW) to the Chief Engineer/Utilities Manager
- Perform scheduled and unscheduled inspections.
- Assist in developing the Statement of Work (SOW) when requested including diagrams and specifications in compliance with OSHA and National Electric Code (NEC) standards.
- Maintain effective, timely and respectful communication and interaction with other employees, managers, and supports organizations.
- Perform other administrative tasks including material ordering, inventory, and work scheduling.
- Collect, analyze, and summarize data for written report preparation and submittals.
- Maintain the appropriate technical library and record-keeping which documents all procedures necessary to accomplish assigned responsibilities.
- Responsible for facility custodianship of work area and management of tools, equipment, and spare parts.
- Take the initiative to analyze a situation and make frequent technical decisions based on specifications, safety, and electrical codes.
- Evaluate operational effectiveness and develop/maintain effective operational control mechanisms.
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
REQUIRED:
Minimum Acceptable Experience Level:
- Five (5) years’ experience in operations and maintenance of a large plant, facility, base, or municipality with specific experience in the operation of power generation control operations,
- Three (3) years’ management experience overseeing large facility power generation controls,
- Supervising a workforce of five or more personnel in an overseas setting.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Hands-on knowledge regarding the operation & maintenance of switchgear controls, distribution switchgear, simple electrical circuits, AC and DC theory, PLC’s and basic electrical formulas, transformer functions and motor controls.
- Knowledge and experience with tools and electrical measuring meters of the trade.
- Knowledge of applicable U.S. Codes and accepted trade practices.
- Knowledge and experience regarding occupational hazards of the electrical and mechanical trades, related safety precautions and considerable skill required for the installation, maintenance and repair of power generation systems and equipment.
- Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions independently.
Education:
- A high school diploma or GED and
- Technical school or acceptable prime power certified generator school.
Licenses and Certifications:
- Valid drivers’ license from Home of Record.
- Certifications relating to power plant operations.
Security Vetting: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Clearance.
Language Skills: Strong, professional, oral, and written English communication skills.
Medical: Favorable passage of a drug screen and physical examination.
DESIRED:
- Relevant overseas power plant power generation and controls experience.
- Experience working with SOW, sub-contractors, budgets, estimating, and with as- built drawings.
- Previous OCONUS experience is highly desirable and previous work experience in harsh environmental conditions is a plus.
- Experience working with Amentum

- Knowledge of ALL principles and processes involved in operating and supporting power generation and transition functions at an overseas facility.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS:
This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
