The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

The Ground Systems Support (GSS) organization is looking for a Predictive Maintenance & Analysis Technician to support the proliferation of asset management best practices and methodologies that will allow the most efficient, best value, use and care of KSC system assets and components to maximize the return on investment of all assets entrusted to the COMET contract. This individual will assist the in developing a more efficient maintenance culture within the organization through the expansion of condition-based monitoring technologies and the implementation of reliability centered maintenance (RCM) principles that can be applied to existing and future maintenance practices. The PMA Technician position will assume overall responsibility for the following:

Responsibilities

  • Performing condition-based data collection, monitoring, troubleshooting, and testing utilizing the following technologies: oil analysis, infrared thermography, vibration analysis, ultrasound analysis, motor circuit analysis, and laser shaft alignment, sUAS (drone).
  • Performing condition monitoring tasks in accordance with work instructions, procedures, and company standards
  • Providing technical support for operations and maintenance issues by assisting in troubleshooting, analyzing and performing repairs for critical assets.
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Qualifications - External

High school diploma or equivalent; 10 years related experience.

  • • Experience and certification in one or more Condition-Based Maintenance technologies including, but not limited to: IR Thermography, vibration, ultrasound, motor testing, motion amplification, laser alignment, and Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (sAUS) is highly desirable.
  • Practical knowledge of industrial machinery mechanical and electrical components including pumps, motors, gearboxes, blowers, compressors, electrical power circuits and electrical switch gear & controls, etc.
  • Practical knowledge of Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) methodologies and best practices.
  • Experience working in a Computerized Maintenance Management System, such as MAXIMO, is highly desirable.
  • Solid analytical and problem-solving abilities and the ability to conduct basic analysis and communicate findings.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects without missing deadlines or sacrificing accuracy
  • Must be self-motivated, demonstrate initiative, and be able to work in fast-paced environments.
  • Capable of leading and performing complex assignments without direct management involvement or supervision.
  • Demonstrated written and verbal presentation skills for interfacing with management and customers (internal and external)
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO9000 Quality Management System and/or related quality systems and programs.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance, if necessary.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements; this may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

Essential Functions

Physical Requirements

  • Will be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting.
  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency


Work Environment

  • Will be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
  • Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, is required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.


Equipment and Machines

  • Personal computer, scanner, copy machine, telephone, laser printer, fax machine, and other office equipment including desk supplies.


Attendance

  • Work assignments are normally 8 hours shifts, 5 consecutive days per week.
  • Must be dependable and punctual.
  • Occasional overtime, sometimes with short notice, is required to meet demanding schedule


Other Essential Functions

  • If offered a position, proof of U.S. Citizenship or Legal Permanent Resident/Green Card holder of the United States is required.
  • Needs to have clear, concise, and accurate communication skills.
  • Must have ability to work well with office staff and customer representatives.
  • Government security clearance may be required in the future.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements. This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel. In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.
  • Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.
  • Must maintain a positive work atmosphere by behaving and communicating in a manner that fosters good relations with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid CDL with endorsements Florida driver’s license.
  • Must pass a federal background investigation.
  • Must comply with all “drug free workplace” requirements as mandated by directives issued by the appropriate federal contracting officer and the company, which requires drug testing for use of illegal drugs by employees in sensitive positions.


• Must be able to drive tasks to completion; self-starter and proactive follow-through on assigned tasks is a must

• Able to manage multiple tasks and set personal priorities; willing to reset priorities when they change and adapt to a dynamic environment
