We are now recruiting for a Project Controls Engineer to join us on a project located in Africa.

Support the Program Management Office (PMO) and assist the Project Controls Team effectively, and proactively, manage, control, and report on progress, schedule, and material/inventory control for the project.

Responsibilities:

  • Designing electrical systems per existing site conditions with the approval of DOR-EOR via RFI.
  • Review engineering drawings, electrical load calculations, technical specifications to implement the work onsite.
  • Control electrical systems and products onsite according to specifications, codes, standards, and contractual requirements of the project. Resolving electrical works related problems and direct report to DPM/Project Engineer and QCM.
  • Inspecting electrical works, materials, equipment, monitoring the work process, and enforcing safety requirements. Direct report to DPM/Project Engineer and SHPM.
  • Collaborating with project managers and other engineers in the development of project.
  • Fulfil the responsibilities of Project Engineer or QC Manager while they are absent.
  • Prepare electrical systems and products related Purchase Requests (PR).
  • Conduct system wiring insulation resistance testing and grounding testing.
  • Prepare material approval submittals, administrative submittals and RFIs and coordinate & follow up w/ DOR-EOR and end user.
  • Update and track submittal register, end user RFI log, designer RFI log and security vetting submissions.
  • Following up the delivery of the long lead items.
  • Documentation management of Submittals, RFIs and Daily QC-Safety Reports as intake, handling, and storage of documentation, ensuring that all documents are stored safely and securely in SharePoint.
  • Scan, upload, print and distribute documents as needed.
  • Keep other personnel updated on new document versions of submittals and RFIs and clarify how to obtain access.
  • Perform all other position related duties as requested.

Education/ Experience

  • Minimum 5 years if professional employment on similar or comparable work, with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, electrical science or technology or similar four-year bachelor’s degree with engineering or technology focus.
  • Experience in design-build construction contract planning, scheduling, and execution.
  • Experience in U.S. federal construction for at least 2 years as scheduler or project controls engineer.
  • Certification in project planning and scheduling and in Primavera P6 preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledgeable and experienced utilizing and administering Primavera P6 software and Excel.
  • Basic knowledge in Earned Value Reporting and contract change management.
  • Experience with material control in construction.
  • Complete MS Office skills.
