The Commodity Prototype Optimization (CPO) Team has the responsibility to manage the prototype tooling and high-cost piece costs for Product Development’s prototype vehicle builds. This includes daily interactions with Tier 1 suppliers, tool shops, Prototype and Production Purchasing, Program Management, D&R Engineering and Test Planning.
Position Duties Include: - Manage two databases where prototype piece cost negotiation statuses are maintained. Requires communicating with CPO team members, suppliers, purchasing and others to ensure accurate information.
- Lead twice weekly meetings with the CPO team to ensure all prototype piece cost negotiations are progressing in time to support the prototype build.
- Prepare bid packages for injection mold prototype tooling.
- Participate with other CPO team members in supplier negotiations.
As skills and knowledge of prototype tooling and piece cost develop, opportunity to lead negotiations with suppliers.
• 2-year Engineering Technology Degree; BS degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering preferred
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to handle high-stress situations without losing composure

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel and Outlook
• Automotive Engineering experience desired
• Knowledge of prototype tooling processes is a plus
