The Quality Control Inspector will be based at one of Amentum sites in Iraq and serve the Operations and Maintenance Support Services (OMSS) contract in support of the U.S. Department of State. This position will be responsible for the implementation of inspection procedures for all areas of the project and will report to the Quality Manager or designee. Functional independence of the QA/QC section ensures attention of the immediate corporate management if discrepancies in specifications or craftsmanship cannot be resolved satisfactorily at the project level. The duties and responsibilities listed below are representative of the nature and level of work assigned and are not necessarily all inclusive.   

DUTIES 

  • Responsible for maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that safety is the highest priority in the workplace.  

  • Comply with all Environmental Health & Safety and Quality Assurance/Quality Control requirements and goals.  Provide information and materials to these divisions as necessary to ensure adequate and legal documentation.  

  • Perform inspections and audits at the job site including inspection/verification of performance of maintenance activities of facility systems and equipment such as HVAC-R systems and electrical systems.   

  • Understand and use contractual requirements and applicable standards in performance of auditing duties, particularly through verifications, inspections, validations, observations.   

  • Prepare audit and inspection templates / checklists based on contract, internal procedures, and project requirements.  

  • Perform audits and inspections efficiently and effectively.   

  • Objectively and accurately document audit results, and related corrective actions and/or preventive actions requests.   

  • Conduct follow-up audits on corrective actions and/or preventive actions and verify completion and compliance to the contractual requirements and/or project specifications.    

  • Collect data required for successful performance of audits and inspections and perform data analysis and trends and use the results for compliance verification.  

  • Timely prepare and provide required reports to management.   

  • Maintain audit schedule and audit calendar.   

  • Promote quality culture among Amentum employees and participate in achieving and exceeding contractual requirements and enforce continuous improvement efforts.  

  • Ensure optimal use of resources in terms of allocated time and equipment in achieving Company’s and Program goals.  

  • Travel to all DOS sites with Amentum presence to perform the work.  

  • Perform additional duties and projects as assigned.   

 

QUALIFICATIONS 

Education 

  • Certificate of completion / graduation of Secondary School at minimum.  

  • Bachelor’s degree or vocational education in mechanical, electrical, civil engineering is preferred.   

 

Minimum Acceptable Experience Level 

  • Three (3) years of experience in facilities, equipment, and systems operation and maintenance (O&M) disciplines, specifically HVAC-R and Electrical.   

  • Three (2) years of experience in QA/QC discipline, or in a job that fulfills the required skillset. QA/QC experience in facilities, equipment, and systems O&M is preferred.    

  • Experience working in an OCONUS environment.  

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Advanced ability to visually inspect, verify, and review material, equipment, tools, operational areas, and documentation to the established requirements / standards.   

  • Advanced ability to read, understand, and apply contractual requirements, standards, specifications, governmental regulations, or technical procedures.  

  • Good knowledge of surveillance methods used in the services providing environment.  

  • Willingness to learn and advance the required skills.   

  • Advanced ability to handle tasks and details in a dynamic, fast-paced, multi-national / multi-cultural environment.  

  • Computer skills in MS Office suit; proficiency in Word and Excel is particularly required.   

  • Advanced ability to effectively present information orally and in writing and respond to questions from management.  

  • Advanced ability to structure and write reports.  

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.  

  • Ability to become an active and functioning member of a team.  

  • Ability to be innovative and be an agent for change.  

 

Passport, Licenses, and Certifications:  

  • As part of pre-contingency requirements, by the time the visa process starts, candidates must possess a valid passport with a minimum of 18 months remaining until the expiration date with 8 blank pages. 

  • Must Poses Valid driver’s license. 

  • QA/QC credentials and / or credentials in Facilities maintenance, mechanical electrical, water treatment or plumbing discipline are preferred.   

Security Vetting:  

  • Moderate Risk Public Trust (MRPT) or be able to obtain a favorable MRPT certification or US  

Government clearance prior to being hired is required for the position.  

  • Must maintain eligibility at the required certification or clearance level for the duration of the contract. 

 

Language Skills:  

  • Satisfactory English proficiency to meet job requirements and to adhere and comply with safety, health, and security measures. 

 

Medical:  

  • Successfully complete and pass the medical and dental examinations as required by Amentum and our customer for deployment to Iraq.  

  • Must maintain physical and dental requirements for the duration of the deployment.

WORKING AND LIVING CONDITIONS: 

This position may be located in a war zone, in an environment with harsh and dangerous working and living conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may regularly be exposed to an extreme and austere desert-like environment. Temperatures can reach 120- 130 degrees Fahrenheit/50-55 degrees Celsius during the summer months. Employees must be willing and able to perform regular job requirements in this austere, extreme environment, as well as willing and able to deploy to Iraq for extended periods. Work schedules are a minimum of 6 days per week and 10 hours per day, while some jobs have higher daily and weekly minimums. Employees must be willing and able to perform physical activities including, but not limited to, heavy lifting and moving of items, parts, assemblies, and equipment up to the safety regulation maximum; climbing in and out of equipment; crawling; and working outdoors. This includes being able to lift and carry 40 pounds of personal protective equipment for extended periods of time and being capable of running and ‘duck & cover’ during emergencies without putting oneself or others at risk.
