Are you looking for an exciting, innovative company with over 100 years of excellence and commitment to ethical business?  Amentum is a trusted partner to United States government agencies, allied governments, and corporations worldwide supporting critical programs across a broad range of domains.  Amentum is looking for an Engineer with radiation test experience to join our engineering technologist group supporting our key Government customer. This exciting opportunity will support multiple programs across the Department of Defense (DoD) with system parts, planning, testing, and analysis. The Engineer will work and train alongside a Subject Matter Expert to ensure program success.  

Duties Include:

  • Perform multiple microscopic (optical & electron) analysis techniques
  • Interface with program offices, prime contractors, designers, parts manufacturers, test labs, and other government agencies
  • Troubleshoot component issues and recommend solutions
  • Understand electrical test methods and techniques, radiations effects, failure analysis tools and techniques, material analysis tools and techniques
  • Develop and review test plan documentation
  • Participate in Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) Audits, participate in Joint Electronic Devices Engineering Council (JEDEC) meetings, and review and make recommendations on Military Performance Specifications and Test Methods

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field preferably in Mechanical Engineering or Physics, or equivalent
  • 2 years laboratory research experience (any combination of undergraduate/graduate/post-doc)
  • 12+ months modeling & simulation experience
  • General solid-state physics knowledge
  • Knowledgeable or willingness to learn about radiation environments, modeling, electronics, equipment, etc.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to proactively raise issues, address risks, and elevate best practices
  • Must be willing to travel a minimum of 25%
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.  (Note: US Citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • PH.D. in Solid State Physics or Master’s Degree in a STEM field preferably in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • General knowledge of radiation transport theory
