Amentum is seeking a seasoned Systems Engineer with experience in planning, developing, and executing Requirements Development and Verification activities. This position will lead the Lunar Habitation Requirements & Verification process. The successful candidate will supply leadership and support for the development of key system engineering products for the Italian Space Agency (ASI) designed Multipurpose Habitat (MPH).

This opportunity will provide Systems Engineering (SE), requirements management, verification, and validation (V&V) coordination, and system level integration support to the MSFC Habitation Systems Development Office. This office is responsible for the formulation and management of future in-space and surface habitats and habitation systems.

This is a full time, on-site position.

Responsibilities

• Lead in the development, management, and verification strategies of system requirements.

• Lead and/or support the team and other stakeholders in developing interface definitions and controls to ensure integration across engineering disciplines.

• Lead and/or support analysis necessary to verify the requirements, maintain control of the design baseline, and continually track compliance of the design to the requirements during design, development, testing, evaluation, and validation implementation.

• Develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage the work and identify describe and communicate potential risks and opportunities.

• Develop planning products, methodology, and processes, which communicate issues, best practices, lessons-learned and other technical positions related to systems engineering, requirement management, and V&V practices and procedures.

• Interface with prime contractors and international stakeholders.

Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, Systems Engineering or related technical discipline from an ABET accredited university preferred. Typically, educational requirements are the equivalent of a Ph.D., with a minimum 9 years of experience, Masters with at least 13 years of experience, or BS with at least 15 years of experience.

Must be able to support international travel.

The selected candidate should have the following desired experience:

• Experience in developing system requirements, verification strategies, and verification planning as well as facilitating the successful completion of verification compliance activities.

Working knowledge of MagicDraw

• Experience with defining and managing interfaces, interface requirements, and interface verification.

• Knowledge of component level and integrated systems verification planning, as well as experience in developing and delivering briefings to NASA program, test, and verification boards.

• Familiarity with NASA Systems Engineering policies and procedures related to verification and have experience with using tools/systems to manage verification compliance data.

• Demonstrated experience developing and delivering executive-level briefings, have excellent oral, written, and customer relation skills, and is proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).



Personnel are required to be self-directed, effective team players familiar with working in a dynamic work environment who are willing to assume a leadership role in this verification, validation, and test planning effort.




    Essential Functions

    Work Environment

    Office and laboratory environment. Requires ability to provide clear, concise, accurate and timely communication, both verbally and in writing (100%). Requires ability to interact professionally with co-workers, management, and client (100%). Requires travel in the domestic USA (<15%)

    Physical Requirements

    Requires sitting for extended periods of time in meetings with peers, management, and with our client at NASA facilities to discuss technical issues (10%). Also, requires sitting for extended periods of time at a desk to write reports and perform engineering tasks (40%). Requires ability to use stairs or elevators for access between floors and multiple buildings at NASA and our facilities (10%).

    Equipment and Machines

    Requires ability to operate a personal computer, a telephone, fax machine, copier, calculator, and other general office equipment (100%).

    Attendance

    Normal workday is from 7:30 a.m. through 4:30 p.m., Monday thru Friday. Minimal overtime may be required (10%) to meet schedule milestones and to support technical demands of the job. Regular attendance is a necessity and adequate arrangements for delegating duties during absences are required.

    Other Essential Functions

    The ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to make rational decisions, and to exercise good judgment is essential (100%). Grooming and dress must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk/hazard to the employee or others.

    Proof of U.S. Citizenship is required.
