**Contingent on Contract Award Expected in May/June 2025*** 

Amentum is seeking three talented and experienced Research Engineers to support the Program Executive Office, Submarines (PEO Submarines). The Research Engineers will apply their expertise and knowledge to technical projects, finding innovative, cost-effective means to improve research, techniques, procedures, and/or products and technologies.  Provide research engineering, technical, and managerial direction for problem definition, analysis, requirement development and implementation for complex systems in the engineering discipline.  Responsibilities include developing, conducting and evaluating new approaches to meet technical requirements faster and more efficiently.  Make recommendations and advise on research development, improvements, optimization, or support efforts. Perform risk assessments and innovative use of new research concepts or improved techniques and procedures.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have an Active SECRET US Government Clearance. Note: US Citizenship is required to maintain a SECRET Clearance.  

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Be familiar with Microsoft Office Suite 365.

  • Able to efficiently use the latest reporting, analysis, and communication technology.

Research Engineer I additional required qualifications (one position):

  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering or another technical field.

  • At least two (2) years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Experienced in supplying engineering expertise to formulating and defining R&D projects to improve equipment and system performance, cost-effectiveness, and timeliness, using existing and new technologies and materials.

  • Possesses full technical knowledge of all phases of research application analysis and programming techniques applying innovative solutions to complex engineering challenges.

Research Engineer II additional required qualifications (one position):

  • Bachelor's degree required in engineering or another technical field.

  • Requires 5-12 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Experience with market research, data analytics, and technology assessments to drive innovation and improvements in mission support systems.

  • Expertise in lifecycle analysis, modernization strategies, and risk assessments to optimize maintenance and operational readiness.

  • Proficiency in cyber defense technologies, machine learning, system integration, and training development.

  • Experience developing and implementing solution recommendations for cybersecurity, data analytics, and fleet training systems.

  • Qualified submariner with experience and skills in submarine construction and in-service maintenance.

  • Extensive expertise in Fleet operations and support.

  • Ability to analyze existing processes, procedures and tools to recommend innovative, transformative alternatives to improve performance.

Research Engineer III additional required qualifications (one position):

  • Master’s degree or PhD required in engineering or another technical field.

  • Requires 12 years of experience in the field or in a related area.

  • Familiarity with Navy Submarine programs and experience leading designing and performing research initiatives to collect and assess data from staff surveys, shipyard assessments, manpower analysis reports, etc.

  • Demonstrated skill developing, conducting, and evaluating the research techniques and procedures to assess technical and non-technical program impacts.

  • Qualified submariner with experience and skills in submarine construction and in-service maintenance.

  • Extensive expertise in Fleet operations and support.

  • Ability to analyze existing processes, procedures and tools to recommend innovative, transformative alternatives to improve performance.

HIRING SALARY RANGE:

Research Engineer I: $83,000 - $130,000
