The SDO is responsible for maintaining the overall security posture of restricted areas to include classified and unclassified areas, ancillary buildings, and personnel movements and safety. The SDO reports directly to the Security Duty Officer Supervisor.
The position works closely with the Senior SDO to learn position requirements. The SDO may be required to act as the Senior SDO, providing required support at short notice.
Maintain a thorough working knowledge of SOPs, Emergency Contact Procedures, and other regulations. Communicate security processes in a clear and professional manner in all interactions with facility employees.
Conduct internal building and external security patrols focusing on facility security policies, operational security initiatives, personnel movement, proper storage of classified material, prohibited items, and adherence to applicable facility regulations.
Monitor and respond to various alarms to include security alarms, fire alarms, and other emergency alarms. Act as emergency POC and first responder for a variety of on-site medical, fire, and security emergencies.
Act as the main facility switchboard telephone operator answering and transferring calls in a prompt and professional manner. Monitor and operate the CCTV camera system, radio network, and pager system.
Receive and accurately administer personnel access requests, including proximity badge access and individual key access. Conduct bag and parcel inspections for items entering and exiting secure areas.
Receive and accurately process Security Incident Reports, Infraction Reports, and Self-Reports.
Manage and maintain GSA safe, vault, high security lock inventory, and lock combinations.
Collect and secure classified waste for destruction. Inspect incinerated classified waste to ensure complete destruction prior to disposal.
Ensure, promote, and maintain health and safety practices/compliances at site and within the workplace.

Year 12 completion
GSA Authorised Safe & Vault Inspector certification
Installation & Operation of the Kaba Mas X-10 certification (US Only)
CPR or Advanced CPR
AED Training
Occupational First Aid
White Card (Construction Induction)
Fire Extinguisher Training
Reptile Relocation Training
Minimum 12 months previous experience in Government security, access control, CCTV operation, and/or customer service roles.
12 months successful prior experience in the Amentum Junior SDO role.
Previous experience with shift work in an Operations Centre environment.
Previous experience in Emergency Management as a first responder.
Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team.

Typical office environment with no unusual hazards, occasional lifting to 10kgs, kneeling, standing and walking, routinely sitting and constant use of speech/hearing abilities for communication, constant mental alertness, and must be able to work under deadlines.

It is a condition of employment that employees obtain and retain the appropriate level of security clearance and medical clearance applicable to each role. The employee will require a Top-Secret Positive Vetting (TSPV) Department of Defense Security Clearance (Australian) or TS/SCI (U.S.) clearance w/ Poly.
