Role Title: Wide Area Networks Engineer

Role Description: The Commonwealth requires the services of a Senior Linux Engineer to augment the workforce within the LNIC. This proposal seeks to engage an Advanced Practitioner to assist with the design, development, build and support of LNIC’s support environment and associated deployable systems, and integration of configurations and software into LNIC information domains.

The position is primarily a technical hands-on role, with responsibility to conduct capability development, as well as design, build, maintenance and configuration control tasks. The Senior Linux Engineer will support the maintenance and secure operation of the data centre, supporting the validation and verification of emerging technologies. This role requires advanced Linux expertise, a strong security mindset, and experience in monitoring, automation, and compliance within classified and offline environments. This is inclusive of capability development and management of large-scale compute and storage environments. Domestic travel may be required.

Essential Requirements:

Required:

a. Extensive experience with Linux system administration in secure, mission-critical environments, primarily with Red Hat based operating systems.

b. Strong knowledge of networking, storage, and virtualisation (KVM, VMware). c. Proven ability to implement security controls and respond to cyber threats.

d. Familiarity with integrating emerging technologies into secure infrastructure. e. Two referees for each candidate, preferably including at least one ADF/APS if applicable

f. Contractor and their company must be prepared and able to satisfy the requirements of the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Desirable Requirements:

a. RHICE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) - Security+, CISSP, or equivalent security certification.

b. TIL Foundation (for service management)

c. AWS/Azure/GCP certifications (for hybrid cloud environments)

Salary Range Depending on Experience: $180,000 - $197,000

Required Security Clearance Level: NV1 or higher (mandatory for access to classified systems). The specified person may be required to undergo a security clearance upgrade to NV2 over the course of the contract.
