The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs.

Responsibilities

This is a critical role providing direct Training support to our Operations team. The selected candidate must be autonomous and self-motivated, positive, personable, collaborative, and possess enough technical proficiency to effectively conduct highly specialized aerospace training.

As a member of the team, you will:

  • Coordinate among the various Operational teams to schedule and facilitate procedural walkthroughs in advance of Coordinate among the various Operational teams to schedule and facilitate procedural walkthroughs in advance of
  • Coordinate among the various Operational teams to schedule and facilitate procedural walkthroughs in advance of operations in a classroom and 3D Virtual Reality environment.
  • Partner with Spaceflight Processing in managing our Virtual Reality capabilities and integrating them into our Engineering, Technician, Quality, Safety and other areas of our workforce.
  • Create and Implement a New Hire Block Training Program for Technicians which orients them to the organization and quickly establishes baseline proficiency in basic, foundational Aerospace Technical and Safety Skills/Certifications.
  • Create and Implement Sustainment Training Programs and Just-In-Time hands on, Technical Skills training based on the upcoming operational schedule.
  • Create and Facilitate hands-on Sustainment training utilizing high fidelity training aids which replicate critical tasks on flight hardware components.
  • Create New Hire Training Assessments and Individualized Training Plans which are tailored to the training needs of incoming personnel based on their incoming Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.
  • Facilitate hands-on Technical Skills and Safety Training.
  • Develop Subject Matter Expert proficiency in key technical areas in order to facilitate and complete On-the-Job (OJT) training in select technical areas.
  • Serve as COMET Training Liaison with Operations including maintaining awareness of near-term and long-term operational schedules, creating/implementing training plans in support of operations, conducting sustainment training, and similar tasks.
  • Perform Needs Analysis, Content Development, Facilitation, Assessment and Evaluation in support of operational training.
  • Monitor Operational schedules and create supporting training plans to ensure workforce is prepared to complete tasks

    safely and accurately.
  • Collect data and metrics on training utilization and effectiveness
  • Ensure trainee competency in laboratory/classroom setting.
  • Conducts Training in a blended setting incorporating direct instruction along with supporting hands-on practical

    application and assessment of performance.

    Lead Formal Training and Skills Assessments in Technical Aerospace domains including but not limited to:



o New Hire Training Programs

o Sustainment and Just-In-Time Refresher Training

o Classroom Facilitation

o Hands On Practical Application using training aids

o Integration of Virtual Reality (VR) Lab and related video capability

  • High School diploma or equivalent; 10 years of relevant experience.

  • Ability to communicate and work with Training team, technicians, engineers, safety and quality personnel, and other stakeholders.

  • Ability to master technical-oriented curriculum in order to provide instruction

  • Computer experience with Microsoft Office products, Internet browsers, and Outlook.



Preferred Qualifications

  • Formal degree or certification in aerospace technical skills/domains.

  • Prior experience delivering technical-oriented, in particular aerospace or a related field, curriculum.

  • Formal background in Instructional Design, Education or a similar/related field.

  • Experience with OSHA subject matter.

    Physical Requirements

  • May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for trouble shooting (>300 feet) using protective equipment.

  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.

  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.

  • Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.

  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.



Work Environment

  • May be quired to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.

  • Position may require individuals to travel daily to different areas on site.

  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.

  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.

  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.

    Equipment and Machines



  • Computers and printers are used for producing reports and schedules.

  • Variety of equipment used in testing.



Attendance

  • Full-time work hours.

  • Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task.

  • Must be dependable and punctual.

  • Shift work may be required.
