Amentum is currently seeking a System Engineer III to support the PM Soldier Survivability (PM SSV) project office under Program Executive Office (PEO) Soldier, Redstone Arsenal, AL. This position will afford you an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and cohesive team whose mission is to provide and rapidly deliver enhanced protection, individual equipment, and aviation life support capabilities, which provides combat overmatch and facilitates mission execution.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Participate in systems engineering activities to include requirements analyses, functional analyses, design solutions formulation, system analysis and control, and generation and maintenance of systems architecture products
  • Apply system engineering principles and procedures to translate quantified needs/requirements into system performance parameters and the identification of system/item configuration
  • Formulates and issues systems engineering documents, processes, procedures, and milestones
  • Requires knowledge of the Systems Engineering Management Process and Implementation, as applied to the Department of Army/DOD Acquisition process throughout all life cycle phases; knowledge of DOD policies on Systems  Engineering, Integrated Product and Process Development (IPPD) and IPT Management; and ability to coordinate and negotiate design and engineering activities with other related programs and organizations.
  • Provides advice affective critical programs and technologies
  • Serves as a subject matter expert for some technical aspects of assigned program.
  • Translate military operational and mission requirements into practical system concepts and performance specifications.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation such as specifications, engineering drawings, system interface requirements, and engineering changes.
  • Participate in post awards, program reviews, design reviews, and IPTs as the project engineer and/or technical expert on assigned programs.
  • Evaluate design efforts to ensure integration of all the engineering disciplines and adequacy of the analyses performed, bringing in additional technical expertise as needed.
  • Review test plans, procedures, and reports for technical adequacy on assigned programs, for both Government and contractor tests, as well as all failure reports.
  • Review and evaluate system performance against specification requirements, monitor and assess field performance, and assess risk of meeting user and specification requirements.
  • Initiate engineering change proposals and waivers/deviations as required, and conduct physical and functional configuration audits.
  • Review program management documents to ensure accuracy and adequacy of technical content.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering and ten (10) years of relevant experience.
  • Must have an Active US Government Secret Clearance. Please note US Citizenship is required to obtain a Secret Government Clearance.
  • Experience serving as a subject matter expert for systems engineering
  • Must have the ability to lead engineering efforts on assigned programs with minimal oversight from the government lead.
