Our team is comprised of 10 companies working together on one mission, Moon to Mars and then beyond. Introductory Statement: The Integrated Systems Health Management and Automation (ISHM) branch (EV43) at MSFC is in search of a candidate to contribute towards software development lifecycle (SDLC), modeling (MBSE), and/or analysis activities in support of NASA’s Human Landing Systems (HLS) program. This role will support the Mission Planning & Analysis (MPA) team within the Systems Engineering & Integration (SE&I) office of HLS. The team is involved with developing and evaluating concepts of operations, iteratively setting up potential mission profiles and timelines, and analyzing the feasibility of said mission profiles and timelines to (1) assist in the validation of the HLS system and (2) inform M2M level assessments of HLS performance impacts to the Artemis missions. The MPA team owns 2 sets of tools which are iteratively developed by the team to accomplish various analyses. The Functional Analysis Model (FAM) includes a MagicDraw implementation to decompose the HLS system goals into functions which are traced to requirements. The Suite of Timeline Evaluation & Development environments (STEDe) involves a MATLAB implementation to assess all available mission timelines and constraints for Artemis III and beyond. The team and tools combined make for a significant impact to the Artemis campaign.
The MPA team also owns several mission products including: Reference Mission Timeline, Ground rules and assumptions (GR&A) and Operational Ground Rules and Constraints (OGR&C), and HLS Program Concepts of Operations. The tools discussed above inform changes to these products as well as M2M and cross-program impacts to mission requirements.
Responsibilities: An MPA team member will contribute directly to the MPA owned products, STEDe development and/or the Functional
Analysis Model(s) to document, expand, mature, test, and/or maintain content. Duties include executing tasks in support of MPA and/or EV43 product development and analysis activities with a high degree of technical competence. This may include:
• ideation, feasibility, and/or impact assessment(s),
• seeking review of generated content from team members,
• supporting integration within and/or between software tools,
• testing functionality of developed code, features, and/or models,
• writing documentation for the products,
• proposing recommendations for product/process improvements,
• communicating status to others,
• Coordinating with developers and participating in technical discussion with the team and outside users,
• Self-assigning technical training as required to close individual technical gaps or to expand individual technical capabilities,
• Understanding general technical direction of new requirements, ConOps updates, or flight trajectory data, and implementing capabilities and impacts of changes to the mission feasibility.
MPA team members may support HLS Program insight activities for one or more HLS commercial providers, including assessment of a provider’s concept of operations and mission design. Team members will collaborate across the HLS program, and with cross program stakeholders and commercial providers to aid in MPA product, model, or tool development.
