We are currently looking for a Technical Project Lead to support our customer’s technical research and development efforts. This position will lead developments within the design, integration, and testing of advanced electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) systems across maritime, airborne, and expeditionary platforms. This position offers hands on experience working with cutting edge imaging technologies, sensor payloads, and embedded electronics in dynamic, mission driven environments.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the bridge between engineering and program management, ensuring alignment between technical execution and program plans.
  • Create technical schedules while managing milestones and varying customer requirements tasking, while remaining flexible to pivot based on feasibility, risks, and dependencies.
  • Provide data-driven analysis and recommendations to the Program Manager regarding schedule realism, technical risk, and execution strategy.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand project scope, complexity, and technical challenges, translating that into actionable program insights.
  • Identify schedule risks, bottlenecks, and integration challenges, and propose mitigation strategies.
  • Track engineering progress against plans, ensuring alignment with program timelines, milestones, and budget constraints.
  • Ensure engineering efforts are properly scoped, sequenced, and resourced.
  • Coordinate Technical Interchange Meetings across cross-functional teams to resolve execution and integration issues.
  • Support planning and execution of test events, integration efforts, and field activities.
  • Apply understanding of system complexity across electro-optic/infrared domains including FPGA, RF, Sensors, Photonics, and UAS to evaluate execution plans.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Preference in Electrical, Optical, or Aerospace) with 6+ years of hands-on  relevant experience.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Government Secret clearance (interim clearance is required to start). Please note, US Citizenship is required to obtain a secret clearance.
  • Demonstrated experience working in engineering development environments involving sensor or imaging systems, particularly complex electro-optical/infrared (EO/IR) hardware systems.
  • Proven ability to analyze technical work and assess schedule feasibility, risks, and dependencies, particularly in hardware development and integration efforts.
  • Experience working with or supporting program schedules, task planning, or engineering execution tracking.
  • Proficiency in understanding engineering lifecycle processes, including design, integration, test, and validation of complex systems.
  • Ability to engage with cross-functional teams to understand technical scope, complexity, and risks across EO/IR systems and supporting subsystems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail in planning and execution.
  • Ability to synthesize technical information into clear, actionable insights for program leadership.
  • Ability to translate complex technical work into clear, concise communication for both technical and non-technical audiences, supporting program reporting and decision making.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work, manage competing tasks, and deliver results in alignment with project schedules and budget expectations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent project management certification.
  • Active Secret Clearance
  • Experience developing or managing Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) or similar planning tool.
  • Prior experience as a project engineer or technical lead role.
  • Familiarity with risk management frameworks and mitigation planning.
  • Experience supporting or leading technical reviews from a planning/execution perspective.
  • Exposure to multi-domain EO/IR engineering environments including experience with sensor or imaging systems, FPGA, RF systems, optical or photonic systems, and/or UAS platforms.

       

Compensation Details:

$75,000 - $120,000 annually

Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as job responsibilities, education, experience, skills, internal equity, market data, applicable collective bargaining agreements, and relevant laws.
