Your Impact:

Amentum is currently seeking a Telecommunications Specialist to join our dynamic team in the Dayton, OH area. In this position you’ll be a part of a team that maintains and supports our customers facility by ensuring that the telecommunications systems are fully functional and available for the senior leader’s decision support teams. This position requires an active DoD TS/SCI security clearance that has been adjudicated in the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.

Responsibilities:

  • Work as the Telecommunications Specialist responsible for availability, performance and testing of operational mission capabilities under varying conditions including various IT and RF based voice, video, data systems, networks, services, and information feeds.
  • Operate, maintain, test, analyze, troubleshoot, and restore communications systems and services. Coordinate availability, performance and/or restoration efforts with 3rd party services providers as required.
  • Apply knowledge, training, and expertise to determine appropriate operational course of action and best solution set to implement under varying events and conditions, brief customer on operational status.
  • Set up an operate and train users on various voice, video and data networks including radio systems, satellite systems, network architecture and distribution systems.
  • Make tactical decisions and take decisive action in stressed or degraded environments to ensure mission objectives are met.
  • Manage dynamic taskings and prioritize workload to meet customer expectations and demand level under changing situational conditions.
  • Identify and recommend process improvements, efficiency gains and innovative approaches to operations and service delivery to increase customer value.
  • Work with customer to determine operational requirements for future system capabilities; support the design, planning and testing of new systems to meet customer needs; ensure new systems are properly installed and brought on-line for operational use; coordinate installation team efforts to ensure schedules are met and activities are not disruptive to ongoing operations.
  • Ensure proper configuration and change management control are applied and system documentation is current.
  • Position requires some travel or response to alternate locations in support of evolving customer requirements or surge demand.
  • Successful candidate will receive highly specialized training on unique job responsibilities.
  • Travel as needed (10-40%).


Requirements:

  • Active DoD TS/SCI security clearance is required with adjudication within the last 5 years or designated CE and the ability to obtain and maintain special accesses.
  • Three (3) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for one (1) year of the education or experience requirement.
  • Experience setting up and troubleshooting circuits and equipment.
  • Experience making, running, and testing cables, performing loopbacks, installing equipment.
  • Experience using VTC equipment.
  • Experience using various RF equipment, Sat Phones, UHF, VHF, HF radios.


Clearance Required: TS/SCI

Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Years

Required Certifications: CompTIA IT Security+ Certification, must be able to obtain within 6 months.

Preferred:

  • Four (4) years of college in a related technical discipline plus five (5) years of related experience or any equivalent combination of education and experience for a total of seven (7) years. Progressive relevant training and/or certification in appropriate discipline may be substituted for two (2) years of the education or experience requirement.
  • Experience as a Network and /or Systems Administrator
  • Operational work experience in a military communications career field
  • Understanding of the mid-range computer hardware, software features
  • Training experience - someone we can trust to be able to adequately explain the setup and troubleshooting processes of our equipment.
