The UH-60 Aircraft Mechanic AM-1 (Powertrain) Prop and Rotor Mechanic inspects and performs maintenance on aircraft powertrain systems and components according to drawings, blueprints, directives, technical manuals and safety procedures.
Removes, replaces, and installs powertrain quills, transmissions adapting parts, rotary wing hub and subcomponents.
Disassembles friction dampers and hanger assemblies.
Disassembles, repairs, reassembles, adjusts, balances and aligns powertrain components, systems and subsystems to include main and tail rotor hub assemblies according to directives.
Applies corrosion preventative procedures.
Cleans, preserves, and stores powertrain components.
Uses and performs operator maintenance on ground support equipment, common and special tools.
Performs limited maintenance operational checks.
Performs scheduled inspections and assists in performing special inspections.
Requisitions bench stock for repair of powertrain systems and subcomponents.
Prepares request for turn ins and repair parts and powertrain components.
Prepares forms and records related to aircraft maintenance.
Removes and disassembles defective parts of the aircraft.
Maintains the supplies and perform preventive maintenance.
Performs additional duties, including maintenance duties, as requested.
Adheres to company policies and safety programs (Safety-first mentality).
Minimum Requirements:
High School Diploma or GED equivalent is Required.
U.S. military technical school or specialized training course on the UH-60 is desired; certification of education level is required.
Valid (FAA) A&P Certificate is preferred. (optional)
Three (3) years aviation maintenance experience, two (2) years rotary wing aircraft experience, and two (2) years on the assigned UH-60 Blackhawk Mission Design Series (MDS).
Must have Two (2) years of documented Prop and Rotor hands-on experience on the UH-60 Blackhawk OR possess a Valid (FAA) A&P certificate.
All experience must be within the Six (6) most recent years.
A valid Driver’s License is required.
Mechanics must provide their own tools/toolbox. Tools to be etched with PID and toolbox shadowed for each tool. (Recruiter will provide toolbox requirements to candidate).
Shift Work Required; Must be willing and able to work any shift assigned under the Union CBA. (day shift, swing shift, night shift, and/or weekend shift (if applicable).
Must be eligible to obtain a Valid US Passport and be able to travel internationally if requested for operational requirements (applicable to OCONUS work sites).
Security Clearance Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain a US Govt NAC-I (T1) Public Trust Clearance. Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is Required for facility credentials/authorization to work at this facility.
Knowledge & Skills
Thorough knowledge of aircraft powertrain systems and subsystems and repair.
Basic knowledge of aircraft unique tools such as test equipment, torque wrenches, dial indicators, micrometers, hydraulic press machine, and those listed in the assigned MDS Maintenance Allocation Chart (MAC).
Working knowledge of technical publications and Logistics Information System
Able to prioritize workloads to maintain schedules on assigned projects
Possess the level of experience to inspect all required aeronautical type maintenance to be performed by an aircraft powertrain mechanic.
The incumbent receives technical guidance, as required, from supervisor or higher-level technician, will occasionally be required to lead teams through more complex aircraft relevant tasks, and may be required to make entries in aircraft logs and records.
Physical Requirements/Working Environment
Must be able to walk and stand on level and/or inclined surfaces for extended periods throughout the day.
Must be able to climb stairs, ramps, ladders, and work stands.
Must be able to crouch, crawl, grasp or handle objects, use finger dexterity, bend elbow/knee and reach above/below shoulders.
May be required to lift/push/pull heavy objects whose weight may exceed 50 pounds.
Must be able to type using a standard keyboard to communicate through e-mail and various software applications.
Will handle dirty parts and lubricants.
Will be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Must be able to pass a Respirator Physical and Fit Test qualification.
May be required to operate power vehicles, machinery, hand tools, ground support equipment, forklift, etc.
May work in maintenance shop or outside.
Must be able to work in a shop where the environment is drafty, noisy, and dirty.
May be exposed to extreme noise from operating equipment.
May be exposed to electrical shock hazards or work near moving mechanical parts or vehicles.
May be expected to work in austere environments and all-weather conditions.
California: Compensation & Benefits:
HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $46.35- $49.65 (Hourly rate set by Union CBA)
This position includes a competitive benefits package.
Bi-weekly accrual of 3.39 hours (0 to less than 48 months)
Bi-weekly accrual of 4.93 hours (48 months but less than 108 months)
Bi-weekly accrual of 6.47 hours (108 months or more)
