Location: Hybrid role to the Herndon, VA Amentum HQ office (work on-site 2-3 days a week).
Reports To: Chief Marketing Officer (CMO), with dotted-line reporting to the Chief People Officer (CPO)

Job Summary:
The Vice President of Employee Communications will lead the development and execution of strategic communication initiatives that promote a positive organizational culture, enhance employee engagement, and ensure alignment between leadership and employees. This executive-level role is responsible for overseeing internal communications strategies and initiatives that foster transparency, trust, and collaboration within the organization. This is a HYBRID role (work on-site in Herndon, VA 2-3 days a week and work remote-telework from home). US Citizenship is required to apply.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Communication Leadership:
- Develop and execute a comprehensive internal communication strategy that supports the company’s vision, mission, and values.
- Partner with CMO & CPO to ensure alignment of key messages across the organization, reinforcing business goals and objectives, to include alignment with Change Management leadership within HR.
- Lead the communication of organizational change, new initiatives, and important business updates to ensure clarity and transparency.
- Serve as a key advisor to leadership on internal communication matters, providing guidance on tone, messaging, and delivery.
Employee Engagement & Culture Building:
- Collaborate with HR to create a culture of recognition, wellness, and professional development.
- Work cross-functionally with Human Resources to partner in the implementation of employee engagement initiatives that foster a sense of connection, belonging, and alignment with organizational values.
- Develop and partner on targeted and compelling communication tools for Frontline Managers/PMs to enhance employee experience.
- Align communication plans with existing or new employee engagement programs that recognize employee achievements, celebrate milestones, and enhance job satisfaction.
Internal Messaging & Content Development:
- Lead the creation and delivery of internal content, including newsletters, intranet articles, videos, town hall presentations, and other materials.
- Manage content distribution channels (intranet, email, internal social media, etc.) to ensure effective reach and engagement with employees.
- Ensure all internal communication materials are consistent with the company’s brand voice and values.
Align Internal and External Communications:
- During major organization changes, M&A and crisis situations provide strategic counsel, manage internal communications and align with external messaging, ensuring timely and accurate communication to employees.
- In collaboration with the CPO, Public Affairs and Investor Relations, proactively manage potential issues that may impact employee morale and organizational reputation.
Leadership Alignment and Collaboration:
- Partner with CMO and CPO to ensure consistent and unified messaging to employees, fostering a cohesive organizational culture.
Measurement & Reporting:
- Support key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of internal communication and engagement efforts.
- Use data and feedback to refine and continuously improve communication and engagement strategies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business Administration, or related field. Advanced degree is preferred.
- At least 15 years of experience in corporate communications or a related field with at least 5 years leading employee and culture communications, working with executives and working as part of a Marketing and Communications leadership team.
- Proven experience developing and executing successful “change communication programs” at the enterprise level within large, complex organizations.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams across various levels of the organization.
- Expertise in utilizing digital communication tools, internal social platforms, and employee engagement software.
- Strategic thinker with a results-driven mindset, able to balance both long-term objectives and day-to-day operational needs.
- Must be a US Citizen to apply.
- HYBRID ROLE. You must be LOCAL to the Herndon, VA area to work on-site 2-3 days a week.
